Hi,

I may indulge in T-RackS 5 plug-ins of your choice but I suppose that some plugins are really old like in Amplitube and may not be interesting nowadays.
I already have 670, Comprexxor and EQ 81, Which ones do you recommend/avoid?

For me:

Tape 24
Fame
White 2a
Leslie
CSR inverse / or perhaps Quad Image - tough choice...

If I would have to use just one single compressor for everything, it would be the White 2a
- it just works and is dead-easy to set up...
the Tape 24 is another set and forget affair,
the Leslie? Sooo useful.
The Fame? Set-and forget all the way.
Need gated reverb? The CSR has super-useful presets for that - just set and forget.
Quad Image if you aren't happy with the stereo-image of a track.

I'd definitely suggest sticking to the newer things. I think their legacy stuff is far surpassed by others. My personal most used T-Racks (maybe my only used T-Racks) are the studio reverbs (Fame and Sunset - I picked up Stone Room in this promo just to have but haven't used it yet), and the original Tape Collection. The Leslie is good too.

What's the deal right now with 5 plugins of choice?

They have a "Custom Bundle" promo happening for T-Racks. 5 for $49, then other bundles that get the per-plugin cost even lower.

On a personal note: I forgot about One in my above post. I really like it as a "drums make huger" type clipper/limiter effect. So good call out on that.

On the other hand, I hate Space Delay. :)

Why the hate for space delay?

Post

The Farm Stone Room
Sunset Sound Studio Reverb
Fame Studio Reverb
Either Tape Machines of your choice - I got the Tascam 388 and Tape Machine 80 (Studer A80)
Comprexxor is pretty good too (Distressor)
Maybe give Leslie a try as well

- personally, I would stay away from the older stuff, besides, you can find those much cheaper here on the marketplace. Also, I prefer the Arturia/UAD/PA emulations over most of the T-RackS plugins. The new T-RackS reverbs are very good though, and I got them because they are exclusive to IK Multimedia and are official endorsed by the studios. Same for the Tascam tape machines. Although the old Tape Machine collection is very good as well. Do demo the Tape Machines before making a decision though, as they possess the ability to butcher the CPU :)

It's basically unuseable as an insert, as I pointed out recently in its thread (after making the mistake of getting it without demoing first, falsely assuming I could trust IK), as output-gain and saturation amount are one and the same single knob.

By the way: why do people keep mentioning Comprexxor when the OP clearly stated that he already has this one?

because the subject of the thread is 'IKM 5 plugins of your choice, what are the best for you?' probably.

Thread titles are clearly overrated 'round these parts...

I got Fame, Sunset, Farm Stone, Leslie and Tascam Porta. The first two are so worth it. Fantastic. Farm is kinda a one trick pony. Hasn't interested me enough to keep seeing what I could be missing in the plugin. The last two I haven't done much with but seem decent.

Thanks for the answers, the 3 reverbs seem to reach unanimity.

What about Joe Chiccarelli Vocal Strip?

I recently went through auditions for software guitar rig options, and Amplitube is still one of the best options available. Some of the models are a bit old, but throw on a good IR and they’re really as good as anything.

I don't know what it is about Amplitude but I just don't get it. People keeps saying it's fine but to my ears there is something wrong with the overall sound of it.. like there is some kind of weakness/edge to it that just sounds bad. It almost sounds to me like the whole thing is some kind of "wrapper" that has a bad built in oversampling from input to output.

It's possible that I'm heavily affected by the visual placebo or something but ever since amplitube 2 (the first version I had) I've felt it's just "wrong" somehow. Very strange as I don't hear this same thing in their other plugins.

I also don't like their AI modeled guitar thing. It's edgy and weak sounding to me. Something is seriously lacking in the critical 1-5kHz region.

Probably it's just me..
