Hi.

re: the 'Lock to Scale' popup in the Idea Tool -

RC - Lock to Scale Popup 01.jpg

The last sentence here is unclear to me.
Perhaps it could be rephrased to clarify the enabling or disabling effect of 'Lock to Scale' on voice leading.

re: [*]Idea Tool UI improvements and layout optimizations

Some description of the changes/additions here would be nice to have, though of course we will explore and run with it in any case!

Hi Steve,

I rephrased the last sentence: "When enabled, it will create perfect voice leading".
I hope it makes more sense.

Thanks,
Attila

Some buttons ("add" and "remove") were replaced with vector graphics, and the list widths were changed as the first two lists were unnecessarily wide. The variation list needs to remain wide so that all options fit horizontally.

Hi magicmusic,

that is not a bad idea! :tu:
But I think it would make more sense to create a guitar riff generator...

I wonder, is it irrevocably true that Undo (e.g. in the Idea Tool) will never be possible during playback?

Hi milliondabeat,

this excellent feature is not forgotten. It is in the feature list for v5.0 which I'll start working very soon. v4.7 will be the last major v4 update. I'll do my best to implement it as soon as possible, and will upload a beta version.

Thanks!

I will need some MIDI files to examine how the riffs look like generally. I have an electric guitar, but it turned out my fingers are too short for holding a chord on the frets... they were created for hitting the computer keyboard :)

RapidComposer v4.7b10 is available!

A bug was fixed when using the Markov generator with short MIDI files, e.g. modern chord patterns. It is fixed in this update.

Improvements:
  • Markov generator fixed when using short (few bars) MIDI files
  • New Markov generator options (also in MIDI Mutator): "Biggest jump allowed" and "Repetitions allowed". For very short input, it is best to allow repetitions otherwise the algorithm won't have a choice
  • "Preserve Original Accents" options added to Apply Rhythm and Rhythm Mapper variations

:) I know the feeling, I've only got small hands - have to be 'creative' sometimes when playing.

A Guitar riff generator would be amazing (for the users interested in that kind of thing) ;)
That AI riff video was impressive but didn't show what prompts were used or how many 'lemons' came out before a decent riff was produced. He was a good player and the riffs were nicely 'dressed' with the drums and bass. Good to watch and hear though.

Cheers.

I had a go at using the new Markov Generator to suggest a guitar riff (it's only as good as the 'seed' midi that it is fed)! I got a good result ...

Full song suggestion at the end.

Cheers.
Mike.

lol, that was cool.. ever try the vocals an octave lower? I mean, as it is, kind of sounds like Ozzy a bit. I was just curious if that was possible.

In a generator, I would want the bends and hammer on's to be generated some how. Would fun generating some kind of lead part like that.

I might have to dust off my Jam Origin Midi Guitar VST and make some midi with it for this..
