hi folks
i manage to create a complete, downsampled version of my last IR library (more than 5000 samples)
and i manage to offer them for free, here :
https://www.kvraudio.com/product/sweet- ... e-stopover
I use then from a long time by now and so, expect to use this thread to present musical examples and expectations, to show how they can caracterize either a single instrument, to an entire mix
I gave a nuances to their original name "Deep Spaces" even though they where significantly inspiring for ambient music, the most prominent aspect that characterize them is much more their harmony intensification at any level, giving this sweet ambiance through their use in a mix "Sweet Spaces" seemed more appropriate then...

you're welcome my friend, here an example of simple improvisation, a preset from a Pianoteq addon emulating a steel-band, with a IR perhaps not listed in library but never mind
https://soundcloud.com/perbuatan1883/ha ... myxolidian
a few automation, dry/wet balance especially...

hi
today let me present you an example in where the incriminated IRs are taylored to work as gate reverbs with appropriate envelope parameters of Space Designer (within Logic Pro) when sound sources are inharmonic percussions (...like a usual drum kit)
...you'll hear them very clearly at the rhythmic introduction
https://www.dropbox.com/s/2fa2u7lp20ep2 ... 1.mp3?dl=0
As you might notice, such a sound, apart from the structural sculpture (volume envelope into the convolution reverb) ...reminds the one you get by hitting a diatonic harmonica in your hand, in where the whole slats vibrates simultaneously, ...it quite a same sounds in where the entire scale included in the IR is responding
the color of the peculiar scale is quite intense an rather sweet but can be tamed for instance by IR in the collection that are less scale-bounded than the others
_____________
P.S. just drag and drop the link into your browser if you encounter problems, should fix it !

here an example in where the "01" process chain of the longest samples (from"a" to"d" I would say) show how much this peculiar sound is bounded to it scale
quality and defects are the followings : the bounding to the scale (F Myxolydian/as the Modal transposition of D# Major Scale)...is strong and responses of the signal that are not included in the scale are neglectable but the character of the responses reminds the same whatever is the ones of the incoming signal : it will reminds the reverberation of a church organ or something similar, this due to on how the peculiar was created IRs (using a bunch of sine waves through the peculiar scale on many octaves as possible, so no exceeding overtones in it though they cannot be completely eradicated, only avoided)
https://www.dropbox.com/s/0fajspzs34hf9 ... 4.mp3?dl=0
you'll notice it mainly in the middle of song, the prominent organ-like reverberation don't need to have similarity sounding sources, a relative downside of its strong bounding being the immuability of it character
_____
As always, drag and drop the link in your browser if you encounter problems

Here an arrangement I've created for a Manding artist, from Burkina Faso called Michel Drabo in where the work with harmonized IRs in B# Major scale, matching the composition, is almost everywhere

this song uses mainly D arabic minor scale
notice the very foggy but still warm and welcoming ambiance in the composed, middle part of the song
this is highly typical of the effect , even in a blurry mix, the rehearsal of the scale stays prominent and glue the mix in a sweet and pleasant way

here an example of arrangement strongly bounded to these IRs in E Myxolydian (modal transposition of A Major) the introduction gives an idea of how, all at 100% wet, it induce a sweet ambiant feel to a composition ...different to the last one that was more exotic (feeling induced by harmonic minor scale)
https://www.dropbox.com/s/srbg6ugg7inkk ... n.mp3?dl=0
still this foggy, but excessively strong and pleasant bounding to the related scale, and in addition, due to the shortest IR that works similarly as microphone or amplifiers IRs, that were involved to all the instruments and sound sources used in this composition, that increase it mysterious and blurry feel

here an ambient tune in where this effect has been used more sparsely, in conjunction with many different and eclectic sound sources from nature samples (among others)...but still bounded to a fundamental tone

here, as a advice for composers and arrangers (...also at a certain degree for sound engineer)
considering that the tonalities you'd use are somehow limited, here downloads that are strictly bounded to the tonalities you might use for your usual work :
for A Major (and all the related modal transpositions)
https://mega.nz/file/daFHCZrb#95xFhKjUy ... FS0ZwrQago

this is destinated to all of you who are aware of these basic harmonic consideration in your work as arranger and composer ...as well as sound engineer, keep in mind that this is what currently makes theses impulse responses second to none in their ways
try to work in conjunction with the related tonality you choose for you arrangement or composition

here an instrumental composition based on every track with a chain of two IRs, the 1st in short version at 100% wet ("m" to"o") the 2nd in "b" or"c" from the same process chain in a mixing situation as it would new a reverb
on every track, so to be called "sugar" organ
https://soundcloud.com/perbuatan1883/aminata
and this is an arrangement for an artist from Burkina Faso (ZENAB GUIRA) les colored using some of these IRS especially on her voice

Here an arrangement made for a singer from Burkina Faso, (we were two arranger in the case and I went at least)... in where traditional pentatonic scale being corrected to match a diatonic one
...I don't if you're like me, but it gave a very mysterious, nostalgic and innovative feel to the melody in where here fundamental and dominant are NEVER supported, (especially and beggining and end of phrases) ...very unusual
the effect is of course used mainly on the leading voice (especially in the middle of the song in where the subdominant is sustained by the singer) and the mix might be a bit rough on that respect, but it has frankly an intense emotional suggestion to my western sensitivity ...the effect having the tendency to enhance overall harmony it is easy to use it excessively
