That was on Behringer’s Instagram as a mock up asking “would people be interested in a module like this?” rather than detailing an actual in development product. They do this fairly often.

I was waiting for Ornament & Crime to arrive to decide on the next stage (pun maybe intended) to choose between Quadigy & a Stages Clone.

Now that its here, I’m all for a Stages clone after watching several videos. I really like Klavis’ Quadigy because it’s precise but Stages is dead simple and immediate. Quadigy is very powerful but quick interaction is a major plus.

Yeah, when they were just starting to enter eurorack, and asking for what users wanted to see/have, I suggested that the no-brainer entry modules that they already had all the hardware bits needed and circuits designed for, were the innumerable 'effects' (as pedals) and mixers... just translate them to the new format. I'll be grabbing several of these.

While thinking about getting a Plaits clone I remembered that I have an Arturia Microfreak with its range of digital oscillator options (and sample import/playback with Version 5 firmware) It has a key hold function so presumably will serve as a continuous tone generator but I don’t think I will be able to control the pitch from my B. 2600 in anyway. Can I plug the audio out of the Microfreak (it’s mono) into the mixer inputs on the 2600, such as those before the filter with their level sliders?

It has CV and Gate out so the quirky keyboard and sequencer might be fun to use with a modular rack.

Any thoughts on how to best integrate the Microfreak into a modular setup?

Its also got clock in/out... There's a config change that I found that supposedly works very well in helping it track 'eurorack' clock much better, particularly at lower tempos.

Without CV in, its mostly as either self-contained 'block' or as a controller, as-is.

Disting has a CV->MIDI-note algorithm so I might look into that in future, and whether it makes sense to build a MIDI panel for it... or try the one in the O&C hemispheres, which behaves as a class-compliant USB device (ie not on the panel)
The Sweet 16 does CV->MIDI CC, so potential for modulation...

I went for a Xaoc Zadar because I wanted something other than just ADSR style envelopes, works especially well with noise sources like Befaco Plethora. There are some wacky shapes in there, it’s kind of like using a convolution reverb waveform as an amplitude template.

IMHO Microfreak doesn't sound quite as clear as actual Plaits, and it doesn't include all of the algorithms. On the other hand, unison mode is pretty nice, and a filter that complements big drones.

When I had one I mostly used it standalone, as another voice to join in with the modular rather than trying to integrate it.
