One thing that I think is interesting about the bigger squares compared to linnstrument, is that it gives more range for modulation in the up/down direction. This is actually quite difficult to control on Linnstrument, and therefor that form factor is best suited to have more subtle Y axis modulation, as opposed to the Seaboard rise for example where it is common to have more extreme modwheel type modulation per note. This is especially true when using bipolar modulation. If you set it to unipolar on linnstrumnet and you are careful to play toward the bottom, you can do have a bit more range and avoid unintentional modulations. So I find that patches are best targeted to the MPE instrument being used. Things that work well on the seaboard may not be well suited for the linnstrument. I think the Push 3 may sit somewhere in between. Haven't tried it though, just guessing. There are obvious pros and cons of each pad size between the push and linnstrument of course, so likely both will have their place. But I do think the ability to hit a pad with two fingers will be a great benefit to push 3. This something you can do with a seaboard, but not really a linnstrumnet (unless playing the same note on different rows), and certainly not a regular keyboard.

Honest question, as the lack of arrangement features is one major gripe many seems to have with P3: how do you see that being implemented into a controller like Push? And also, are there other MIDI controllers or standalone workstations that have actual arrangement workflows included?
I'm genuinely interested in how jumping from point a to b in an arrangement, recording automation, editing multiple audio and MIDI clips would work through a controller as I can't think of a way that isn't touch screen.

Both the MPC and Maschine have arrangement features.
I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

Hmmm, MPC’s is not an arrangement feature, or very nice to use on the hardware, the Force has a great arrangement screen on the hardware, very Live-esque.
Maschine’s is horrible to use imo.

The MPCs have a song chain feature much like old hardware sequencers. It’s not that hard to use, and something like that at the very least would be great to use in Push.simmo75 wrote: Wed May 24, 2023 9:35 pmHmmm, MPC’s is not an arrangement feature, or very nice to use on the hardware, the Force has a great arrangement screen on the hardware, very Live-esque.

Maschine is a POS, just garbage for anyone doing anything besides simplistic 4 on the floor dance music. Can’t remember but does the Force also not have meter changes in it’s arrangement screen? I seem to recall that being the case, which isn’t true of the MPCs.
The thing about the MPC hardware is that it’s a total PITA to change time signature on the stand alone, and dead easy on the computer, I ended up selling the hardware and getting the MPC studio because it better suits my needs. I really don’t want this to be true of Push3.

I know, I’ve owned various MPC’s over the last 20 years.machinesworking wrote: Thu May 25, 2023 2:09 amThe MPCs have a song chain feature much like old hardware sequencers. Honestly I have the Launchpad Pro MKIII and Push 2 now, I bought the MKIII because Logic and DP11 work with the Launchpad, which is pretty great. Besides that the Live, Reaper, and Bitwig integration for Push 2 is far better than the Launchpad, yes it's much cheaper, but no LED, knobs, and much less integration into Live or even Bitwig because of that.fedexnman wrote: Thu May 25, 2023 5:22 am Expensive ... I'm sure in due time Novation will release yet another Launchpad ? hmmm wonder what they name it . Launchpad mpe
This will I'm guessing be exactly the same with Push 3, and since the most expensive upgrade with this isn't going to be the audio interface but the MPE pads, it's unlikely that the Launchpad version will be better, or even that cheap. It will probably be hard for them to get it anywhere near $600, and it won't have an audio interface, LED and 9 endless encoders.

Yes , I totally get that . I have a Launchpad X but it'd be cool to have the mpe . The launchpad X pads had full velocity for the pads , where the old launchpads did not ... So just saying , mpe would be the next upgrade in launchpad series ...maybe it's not as expensive as a feature anymore???machinesworking wrote: Thu May 25, 2023 3:00 pmHonestly I have the Launchpad Pro MKIII and Push 2 now, I bought the MKIII because Logic and DP11 work with the Launchpad, which is pretty great. Totally agree, the Push 2 was $799, the Push 3 seems like a bargain at only $200 morefedexnman wrote: Thu May 25, 2023 4:50 pm Really a $1000 for Push3 ain't bad and you can do the updrade kit at a later date too ..
