Hey, just wondering if theres any kind of simple sf2 creation programs out there that dont require SBLIVE or anything stupid like that, and that dont need like dos or win3.11

Did you read the last post in the thread? Just pony up for $30 to buy a cheapo SB Live card and be done with it. Throw the card away if you like.

Is Vienna that bad? I use tons of SF but don't have the time to make my own.

Maybe I wont even make sf2's its just an idea i was flirting with. $30 is a lot for me. Yeah you heard me right

Check my tool V-dumper, it creates sf2 files from vsti instruments (also there is possible to connect instruments and fx in chain)... it is donationware, but
you can donate $0 if you want hehe

Chainer has a feature to create soundfonts!!! In fact, You can easily create drummaps of electronic percussion synths/samplers... with a few clicks.

Probably not what you're asking for, because you do need to run them from a DOS command shell, but see this thread.

I was never able to get the "convert to sf2" function to work properly in Chainer

. Great idea, but it's buggy as hell. When i contacted support about the bug, they said they knew of it and it would be worked on for the next version. I don't think it's been updated since then (over two years?). Synthfont looks interesting though i haven't tried it yet.

Not good advice. Firstly Vienna will not work if there is no SB card present. Secondly you don't need to pay $30 since Vienna 2.3 is available as a free download: http://www.soundfont.com/downloads.html
