Ableton Live 11.3.2 not installing on Windows 8.1

The ableton site states that the minimum system specs is windows 10 for Live 11. But at least until Live version 11.2.11 i was able to install it. Now with Live 11.3.2 it won't install. I have checked the logs and the problem is with installing the new push 3 driver. It seems the driver doesnt install in windows 8.1 and that stops the installation of live 11.3.2.
Does anyone knows a way of overcoming this? because i am not installing windows 10 to be able to update ableton live.
edit: Please dont tell me to upgrade windows

What in the earth these are?
"I have software and hardware that wont work in windows 10.."

Sounds like your time is up. The only answer I see is sticking to older versions of Ableton at this point. Those Push 3 features will have to wait until you are ready to transition to Windows 10 or 11.hcv242 wrote: Thu May 25, 2023 5:44 am The ableton site states that the minimum system specs is windows 10 for Live 11. But i dont even want to use push 3. i dont have one and i wont buy one. the ableton live instaler just installs the push 3 drivers by default.

You have no choice in the matter, as that is how it works with proprietary software. Any consumers with "obsolete" hardware/software are left out. You made it this far with Windows 8.1, which is impressive, but it is only a matter of time before you are forced to upgrade against your will.hcv242 wrote: Thu May 25, 2023 1:29 pmBut i dont even want to use push 3. i dont have one and i wont buy one. the ableton live instaler just installs the push 3 drivers by default.FranklyFlawless wrote: Thu May 25, 2023 12:52 pm Sounds like your time is up. well, people telling me that i have to upgrade is really not what i am looking for.
i know a solution. i will have to install windows 10 on an old laptop so that i can install ableton live in it. than i will just have to copy the installed folders and registry keys to my production machine. i was looking for something easier in this forums, like some way to bypass the push 3 drivers install, but all i seem to get is : you have to upgrade!
not that useful, let me tell you. guess i have to edit my initial post with : please dont tell me to upgrade

You do not have to upgrade. As mentioned in my first post on this thread, you can stick to using older versions of Ableton Live. I am only talking about upgrades in the sense that you no longer have any options left if you need a later version of it.hcv242 wrote: Thu May 25, 2023 1:50 pm well, people telling me that i have to upgrade is really not what i am looking for.

Here's how I installed the latest Lite version (on Windows 10) without installing the Push driver. Give it a try and see if it works for you on 8.1.
Download UniExtract from here (the link is under Assets).
Unzip and run UniExtract. You can skip out of the setup wizard if you like.
Unzip the Ableton zip file.
Open the Ableton installer.exe in UniExtract and unpack it. It will unpack it into a folder with the same name as the installer.
Inside this new folder is a folder called AttachedContainer. Copy the Installer Data .cab files into here.
This folder also has the Push driver. Delete it (or replace it with the older driver, maybe renamed to match).
Run the Setup.msi in this folder and hope for the best.

Every time I see a thread like this - I truly do a faceplant and wonder why anyone would willingingly put themselves thru this type pain of steadfastly refusing to move forward - BUT still expecting/demanding/ the latest and greatest software updates while clinging to a known POS that was Win 8?
Win 10 22H2 Home/Pro/ENT is mature, incredibly stable, fully supported by every DAW vendor in the world and now - free from any more updates or alterations until Oct of 2025 - how can it get any better for a DAW user?
Not to mention that Win 10 will run circles around any version of Win 7/8 without even the slightest effort.
Your call OP - but wow - this is just a mindblower here in mid 2023.

Would love to see exactly what you mean regarding "expensive" devices that people would like to keep using - that seemingly (for the purpose of this specific thread) that are inexplicably ONLY supported on Windows 8.1whyterabbyt wrote: Thu May 25, 2023 3:20 pm...doesnt support lots of expensive hardware devices that many people would probably like to keep using...
The OP makes no mention of "expensive" hardware. Only the fact that he continues to run an OS that hit end of life 5 months ago and wonders why the latest software does not work on it.

I'd call Microsoft , I have in the past . Even with an OEM XP key they let me upgrade to Windows7 home , I had purchased a Windows7 up grade key. They'll let you upgrade to 10 or 11 if your computer can handle the 11 requirements. I got the FREE Windows10 upgrade too ... I like Linux better than Microsoft but they are practically giving the WindowsOS away these days . Though im NOT on 11 yet I've had good experiences with XP , 7 , and 10 . My hardware is old too so I cannot be on 11 yet . I have an i7 920 ... I'm gonna change my mobo CPU n ram out soon ( amd4600g , 16gb ram , m.2 nvme SSD etc etc ) ... Cheap .... I'll do this in order to go with Windows11 . I'll also make sure I call Microsoft before I do this . Or I'll just buy a cheap $25 windows 11 key somewhere. Anyways long story short , just update to Windows10 you are totally overthinking ....

Agreed - you can still update to Win 10 for free - today.fedexnman wrote: Thu May 25, 2023 4:25 pmThey'll let you upgrade to 10 or 11 if your computer can handle the 11 requirements.
I would still not attempt Win 11 for a number of reasons - especially hardware (TPM requirements etc) that will shut you down instantly if your PC is not a VERY modern vintage. Plus there is no viable "advantage" to Win 11 for a DAW.
If there is any verifiable proven data that exists indicating (without any question) that - "Win 11 has the following advantages (X,Y,Z) OVER the same well tuned Windows 10 install on a digital audio workstation" - I would seriously consider it but I have yet to find anything to justify that position.
Win 10 is the tried-and-true workhorse from now to Oct 2025 if you are all about getting your creative work done with little to no need to ever need to deal with the OS.
It is simply there, working, solid and in the background. Does not get any better than that for my workflow.

Yeah I'd definitely go the Windows10 route then. I'm a little phobic about 11 but I've seen one guy on here that is problem free with it and he's a pro guy and goes on tour and everything .. is it Bones ? Can't remember his username ...
