P.e.r.s.o.n.a.l.l.y... I'm grateful I don't obsess over 'competing' or have a need to be recognized as, or for, being uniquely gifted at any particular genre or even having a niche.
I AM FREE ... of what has become ~ believed required, and/or expected of those who aspire to such things. I understand that compulsion, and I choose to avoid it.

I don't understand that compulsion at all. I've only ever done what I've done because it was inside me and it needed to get out.
True dat. I think if there is any spark of creativity in you, it will always manifest itself in your sound. OTOH, if you are simply doing things by rote, you're probably never going to make any kind of impression on anyone anyway, no matter how much "brand building" you try and do. You'd possible be better off trying to sign up with a music service and let them flog your shit.
PRECISELY! Wankers, one and all!
