Could you sidechain gate a pitch

Hello, i have a fictional question: would it be possible to interfere with the pitch of a track with a gate sidechained to another track ?
Practically i mean that, in the same way you would impact the volume of a track by triggering a sound from another track, you could interfere with the pitch, creating a wow effect, detuning a little (or a lot), and only during the time the sound is triggered. I guess not as there's no correspondance between pitch as there's between the volume of two thing. But maybe there's a way i haven't think of.

More reasonably, would there be a way to trigger a pitch bend manually, other than with the pitch knob or an lfo? Like triggering a certain amount of pitch bend thats previously determined ?

What i'm aiming to recreate is the sound that delay makes when you change the time, or all the pitch shenanigans that some tape emulators produce. But in a way i could trigger them sporadically. It's not a soft modulation, but a quick pitch drop or rise like a two second effect then it goes back to normal.

Anything that would be about this subject interests me a lot so if you have anything to say about this i'd love to hear

I know this can be done in Reaper. If that's what you're working with I'm more than happy to help. No idea about other daws though. I think Bitwig might also be able to handle this, and perhaps Live with some max device.

You're probably gonna wanna be using the Envelope Follower device:

Hook it up to a pitch-shifter, or alternatively, set up an analog style delay on the destination track set to minimum delay time and fully wet and have the envelope follower controlling the delay time.
If you're trying to pitch shift a virtual instrument then you might have some luck hooking up the envelope follower to the oscillator detune.
