Moog Emulation Sales - UAD, Softube, Legend

I did compare UAD and Cherry audio. miniverse is very underrated, don't underestimate the cheaper price ,it's very on pair with UAD ,sometimes i even prefer the cherry audio version.

Sorry, this is just not true. UAD is clearly better.

A major downer with Miniverse is that Cherry Audio stuck with low note priority, which might be accurate but these days is something that most people probably don't like. Also it's not velocity sensitive, which again is accurate but a rather pointless limitation IMO.

valid arguments ,but one major point is that you can actually play up to 16 voices
hope they bring those features along the road,for now there is a tip i found on the forum:

Put this BEFORE your Cherry Audio plugin. Then put these settings:

Power: On
LowChannel: 1
HighChannel: 1
PolyPerChan: 1 Note
NotePriority: Steal Oldest
Retrigger: On (or Off if you don't want retriggering on release)
InChannel: Any
SustainPedal: Pass Thru
ChanMode: Reuse

Most of those are default - I think the ones I needed to change were Low & High channel to be 1, poly to 1, "steal oldest", and Retrigger On.

I think UAD has also done a great job to model the synth. But their Midi CC makes it unusable to control. They have fixed midi Cc, so you can’t match it to your Controller. I have a Roland system 1 which controls all my synths via Midi Cc but in this case also midi mapping doesn’t work, because there is always a conflict with midi CC. I asked the support to enable an Option to disable midi CC but I they told me that don’t wanna change it. So yes it comes very close, but it doesn’t make fun to control it with a mouse. There are lot of requests in their forum for midi CC options but they seem to keep resistant for feedback !

I didn't know that, oh well..
Hopefully Model 72 will be on a sale as low as UAD's offer.

Sure, you can match some static sounds. But you can't match the voice spread, velocity control, drift, saturation and other things. Anyway, I don't think Miniverse is bad at all, just limited in comparison.

Obviously I could be wrong, they both sound identical. Could use either in a song and it wouldn't matter in the least. Especially in the higher octaves. On the lower octaves, the 2nd growl, A seemed deeper/heavier!?

They sound similar, but I think A is slightly better.
I have no idea if it's UAD or not.

for raw gritty emulation closest to original i though model 72 was the one, legend close second
monark number 3, minimonsta last
minimonsta polished and pleasant to the ear but if you want as close to hardware is not it
monark closer to the hardware but a bit digital and precise
legend more raw sound and very close to original, rough and just great
model 72 very very close to the hardware, raw and noisy, they did a great job capturing the resonance behavior as well

did anyone notice that the amount of contour vary when "decay" ( release) is enabled/disabled ? with decay disabled the amount of countour remains at a specific frequency response , if is enabled the contour amount goes way over, i confirmed this with cherry audio and arturia , uad is a little less extended and softube remains the same.

Would be nice to see a Moog sub / subsequent 37 or voyager emulation instead of an other modelD emulation. That’s the reason I don’t want to buy the UAD, I have enough minimoogs. But when Urs would do another Minimoog, than I would buy it for sure. His prophet emulation is outstanding.

The UAD Moog multifilter is more like a sub37.

Some time back I found that combined with Monark I was getting some really good Sub 37 type tones.

All I can see is a classic ladder filter - not a multi filter? Am I missing something?

It’s the multi mode filter XL that’s more modern sounding like a sub 37. (Apologies was imprecise in my post).

It has lpf, hpf, peak and another. Sounds very good and moogy.

The original UAD Moog filter is just a ladder, but it really sounds fat and squelchy, it’s a great tool for rolling off some high end. It also has one of the best distortion sounds I’ve heard from a plug in.
