hi guys, so i also got an offer from them for 99 bucks and i dont own any of their previous FX collection, and i try to not buy cheap and dont use it. especially with online activations....
the comps, the eqs, saturations etc. i guess are nothing special if you already got other plugins from u-he, Soundtoys, Waves (still), Fabfilter etc.?
only thing interesting for me is the distortion unit (there are just no replacements for Ohmicide etc.), the reverb unit (but i guess it doesnt give anything more cause i got Liquidsonics and Relab Reverbs) and the granular FX. so these 3 are interesting and the rest are kinda a bonus for me or would you say "no this one and that one is top of its kind?" ?
thx

It's a good collection, however it looks like you already have everything covered. Not sure if it would add anything to your arsenal. As for the distortion unit, you mentioned you got the FabFilter plugins, so I'm assuming you have Saturn? If yes, then I don't see why you'd need anything else. Saturn is pretty versatile can can provide multiple distortion/saturation flavors. Again, reverbs are overlapping as well, as you have the liquidsonics and relab plugins.
I don't think it adds much value, just some more plugins to choose from. All this being said, FX Collection is not a bad way to spend $99. But you gotta figure out if you're ever gonna use it.
Side note: I love the DBX compressor in the FX Collection, very snappy and punhcy.

Arturia's LX is one the best reverb ive heard so far (its better then UAD BUT also incredibly CPU hungry) and its Tube Culture distortion is one of my favourite distortion units of all time. For the rest, nice aditions but personaly for me not much of the use since i have other plugins. Notable mentions are Eternity Delay and Dist OPAMP.

If you don’t have any of it, it’s easily worth $99.
Just off the top of my head, the 224 reverb, 1176 and dbx comps, Dimension D chorus, and Space Echo get constant use over here.

I think they're some of the best out there.

Just my personal take, nothing else.
Apart from the "experimental" effects you mentioned, the Arturia FX collection is very grounded. They are as much bread and butter you can get. The quality is great and the interface is great. But I would never reach for them as a means when you want to - let's see what kind of inspiration we can cram out of this track.
I find more use of the Soundtoys Effect Rack. But again, that have more to do with my love for multi effects with the possibility of doing unorthodox things with sounds.

My favorites from Arturia FX are FET comp, both of chorus plugins, LX Reverb (I still use ValhallaVintage more but it's still great), and Mello-Fi. I don't like and use delays at all, I can't get the sounds I want from them, they look too complicated for me maybe. I'm okay with Echoboy.
Stil, I think it is very worth $99.

All this shit is a preference really, but i am personally not getting along with their comps or pres when put up against Antelope FPGA FX, or UAD, but their reverbs and modulations are nice. Slightly prefer the Dimension D by UAD though. Seems to correlate a bit better in stereo and has a bit more "dimension"for lack of a better description

I think it's a great value, but I don't think I'd consider any of them "best" on the market, though some are interesting and some are very good. One of the best deals, though!

Fully agree! So many happy accidents I made with them that they have become part of my standard workflow!
Also really like the different filters (MS20, Mini, SEM...) which can as well provide some nice creative inspiration! And Tube Culture mentioned by another user does wonders to add subtle saturation.
Delays, Reverbs and Chorus are nice, but I don't use them much - for some reason I don't explain..maybe that I don't find so much extra value vs the others I have.
The rest is much more mixing oriented indeed and competes very well from my perspective with the brands you mentioned, but indeed do not add soooo much more in comparison.
I'd take the offer

ime Arturia FX are solid across the board and get regular use here. i might (and often do) use others but they do a great job on a full range of basics with productivity enhancements beyond 'meticulous emulations'. what I really like though, is their unique offerings such as Eternity, Intensity, Fragments and Coldfire. original. highly useful and great value.

It’s a great collection. I’d definitely go for it.
