This sounds a lot more like a Prophet-600 than the earlier videos.

Should be seeing quite a few demos now that customers have started receiving their units.

I wasn't that impressed by the above Pro-800 demo. The oscillator levels seemed really low and were thus not saturating the filter to any appreciable degree.

The following "walkthrough" video sounds a lot better to my ears:

D-550, EX-8000, Juno 60, Matrix-1000, MicroWave I Rev A, MicroWave II XT, MKS-7, MkS-20 x2, MKS-30, MKS-50, MKS-70, MKS-80 rev 4, MKS-80 rev 5, Nord Rack 2, Nord Rack 3, Pulse 1, Pulse 2, REV2, Shruthi SMR-4 MKII, Shruthi 4MP, Tetra, Virus TI2 keyboard

Me neither. Awful sounds IMO. I don't blame the synth for that though. ;)

Damn that thing sounds pretty damn awesome, but I bought a Rev2 back when they announced this not expecting it to actually release on time hah.

Might still have to get one eventually..

Great demo chk071 :D

Great demo @chk071!

The sound just isn't for me, as it turns out (I'm not big on the Prophet sound... or this company). Great synth for the money, though. Too bad they kept the silly button pad.

Just to avoid misunderstanding: The demo isn't by me, it's just something I found on Youtube. :)

It isn’t really a typical Prophet sound. Kind of an idealized version of the Prophet-600. A Prophet-5 isn’t nearly so buzzy.

I just listened to this demo and was going to post it in this thread. But you beat me to it. :)

The tone of the Pro-800 sounds really good in this video. However, I'd like to hear more patches that make use of PWM, Sync, and Poly Mod (both FM and Filter FM).

I know Behringer is trying to create an authentic clone of the Prophet 600 while keeping the price super low. But I can help think how much better the synth would be if it included a proper LCD or OLED display with four rotary encoders beneath the display for adjusting parameter values and displaying patch categories and names. Having to edit system settings via membrane switches and a 3 digit LED might have been fine for 1982. But it's pretty archaic by today's standards.

Most customers are likely not bothered at that price. Most of their other synths don't even have presets, so this one is light years ahead comparatively. And no presets hasn't stopped sales for their other synths. I agree with the dislike of membrane buttons though. Brings back memories of the worst of the 80s, even 90s.

This is why I have no Behringer synths. Too close to the originals, except for the Deepmind, and I wasn’t thrilled with the sound of that one.
