hello.. :)

I made a brief 'tutorial' on how to create one of my presets for Synth1, named 'vanilla' bass.

basically.. its just going through the parameters step by step... but I figure it might be of use to some out there. I could have just given the preset away, but wheres the learning in that :hihi:
(actually there is a version of it in my Definitive bank over on Patcharena if you REALLY wanted it)

any errors/glitches/mis-information or general confusion.. please let me know.. :)

Go to the tutorial page

enjoy.

Thanks, VitaminD :)
I used a tutorial you wrote a while back to create a kick in Synth1 so I look forward to this one.

As a side note, my Synth1 never shows the numbers in the bars when I adjust values. Why is this?

cool deal there, ouroboros :) I wish I had saved the text... I'd put that one on my site too..

this is just one of the tutorials I plan to have on my site.. with more practice in giving tutorials, I plan on revising and making them more useful. think of this as version 1 :hihi:

about the numbers.. are you using the mouse to adjust the parameters or are you using a midi controller?

with my UC-16, the numbers dont pop up.. its only with the mouse that they show..

if you are using the mouse though.. then I wouldnt have the foggiest. :?

in any event, I hope the tutorial is useful to you :)

Have saved it for later. Thanks for that. :D

no worries :)

I wanted to know though.. if anyone has gone step-by-step already.. have they came up with the same sound?

I followed it and did.. but then again I'm partial and know what sound I'm looking for since it was mine in the first place.. :hihi:

hey, you could brighten up a bit left(initial) color of background gradient a bit.

Post

okie dokies you got it.. now that we've address the coloring issues.. how well did the tute work for you? :hihi:

please, by all means be honest.. I'm not doing this for my ego but to help the community.. so if its not helping anyone then its a waste of time for all involved and I should know if it sucks or not.

nice, the web needs more well written tutorials ;)

Very nice tutorial, Mr. Vit.D.
Can I call you V.D. for short? )

I really appreciate this, so here is my feedback with the disclaimer that none of what I mention is really needed:

1. The colors of the arrows in the picture
"synth1_3.png" is hard for my poor eyes to see. Perhaps a different shade?

2. It was a little unclear where the picture with the parameters for the chorus settings were, ands it took me a while to find them in the pic. under the chorus mention that illustrated the multiple parameters open at once. "synth1_4.png" -This is more attributable to the black hole between my ears than anything.

3. Again- my density: I followed the tutorial but couldn't ge the same sound for ages. Was pulling my hair out after reviewing it and then I realized the EQ settings were all screwy from another preset. Might want to mention or display them all at 12 'o clock?

So here is my end result:

the kicks are from the tutorial you wrote on, -pause for effect...- kicks! (what I saved as a preset after reading it, anyways
:) .

A great preset available to all!

ahh excellent! This is the type of feedback I was hoping for. Ok I was wondering if the red was a bit too much and the arrow too big in comparison to the actual knobs.. I'll correct that!

okie dokie no sweat.. I can understand the confusion and will resolve this when I'm fixing #1 :hihi:

ooh yeah.. actually the original Vanilla Bass had some oddish EQ settings.. I went to recreate it and realized it sounded better (at least to me) without any synth1-applied EQ. I'll correct this too!

glad it was of use to you (especially the end result :hihi:)

You actually got me there.. I *should* have used one of my own kicks.. would have been a great segway into/outof each tutorial.. will amend this as well!

I'm very greatful for your comments and am pleased it was a learning experience (that you actually wanted to learn? haha). I also found your mp3 was helpful (and funky 8) ) too!

thanks again!
