Do any of you guys use a software editor for your hardware synths? I will be getting a JV-880 and wondered about what may be the best PC editor/librarian for it.

Ctrl is a free open source remote control software platform for HW synths/effects.
For your Roland JV-880 exists a prebuilt editor: https://ctrlr.org/jv-patched-roland-jv- ... ch-editor/
Midi Quest (Payware). Probably a candidate for best editor/librarian environment.

Ok thanks, that free/donation-ware actually looks pretty cool.Etienne1973 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 10:55 am Ctrl is a free open source remote control software platform for HW synths/effects.

But I am guessing I'd need some kind of MIDI (5 pin) to USB cable to go from the MIDI output or Thru of the module to the PC, or something similar to that. My Focusrite 2i2 doesn't have 5 pin MIDI in/outs.

AFAIK you need a bi-directional MIDI connection to and from your JV-880 so that you can remote program via Ctrl editor software. Does your USB-MIDI keyboard provide MIDI Out and MIDI In ports? If yes then that could eventually work. If no then you need an additional, dedicated USB to MIDI interface with bi-directional connectivity.

Got it, thanks.
