I have to check out Equator. Hear its one of the best MPE synths

Post

Probably should checkout Cypher 2 too

Strange is that Equator 1 audio unit now is m1 native, but not the VST... Weird stuff. It's definitely possible to port the old VST 2.4 SDK to m1 arm.

Might be based on some misinformation. Roland did the same. Any ideas why?

I think it’s just since it’s not supported by Steinberg anymore, particularly on M1, an increasing number of companies are not bothering with porting VST2 to M1, perhaps they feel it’s not worth the risks or effort or just that it’s on the way out as a format so they might as well make a clean break with it (which NI have chosen to do for example, having managed to disentangle their whole NKS ecosystem from VST2 dependency)

(Brilliant business strategy there Roli! Hope whoever is responsible for still not letting content data be stored on secondary drives enjoys all the money they're not making because of that.)
Can't you use a symbolic links? That's what I've been doing.
Thought it might be faster loading from my NVME drive but it's about the same as my 8 disk RAID50 mechanical array so I've put the 12GB+ ROLI folder there instead.
I moved C:\Users\Public\Documents\ROLI to E:\Audio\ROLI and just made a symlink back to the original location

Don't know what your OS is, but for Windows I use Hard Link Shell extension (which makes it so much easier than using cmd prompts)
https://www.schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlin ... llext.html
The cmd prompt method seems very easy; in Windows, you just Run as administrator and type:

mklink /D "C:\Users\Public\Documents\ROLI\Equator2" "new path"

Obviously replace Insert new path with whatever new path you moved Equator2 to, for example I used D:\Equator2

mklink /D "C:\Users\Public\Documents\ROLI\Equator2" "D:\Equator2"

Seems to be working fine, though that is a "soft link" and you seem to be recommending a hard link to the folder (that type of hard link is called a directory junction)? For that replace /D with /J

I did run into one major issue though: trying to move

C:\Users\Public\Documents\ROLI\Equator2\Factory Library\Samples\sampler\Strings\Double Bass\Double Bass - Dark Mono

brought up "Item Not Found" error, probably because there was a space at the end of the directory name: "Double Bass - Dark Mono "

However I was able to move the files from inside the "Double Bass - Dark Mono " folder and then delete the folder using command prompt:

rd /s "\\?\C:\Users\Public\Documents\ROLI\Equator2\Factory Library\Samples\sampler\Strings\Double Bass\Double Bass - Dark Mono "

with that weird \\?\ required because the space at the end messes things up.

Noo, I was recommending "Hard Link Shell" extension :) It just adds a context menu entry to Explorer for easy drag'n'drop access to create Hard/Junction/Sym links (and some other variants!).

Symbolic links are soft and can traverse different drives (even mapped network drives!). They can be Absolute or Relative which makes them really flexible. The main downside is that a small amount of applications that aren't fully compatible with them and simply can't interpret them.

Hard links are completely transparent to the OS and all applications respect them - but they can't traverse volumes. The link data is stored on the file table so needs to point to data on the same volume. I only really use Hard links for de-duplication of sample libraries (Duplicate File Detective has a great feature of turning duplicates into Hardlinks to save space!)

Ahh I avoided the "Double Bass - Dark Mono " issue because I'm using XYplorer which fixes Explorers problems weird formatted names/spaces and long filenames etc. It's also got a really useful 'audio preview' feature which lets you quickly playback audio/midi files right there in the browser window: Image
But I digress!
I think I re-saved the "Double Bass - Dark Mono " preset (without the space) just to make sure it worked.

Works just fine in Live 11.

This is a Bitwig issue.

I use Bitwig exclusively, and I've never come across those issues.

Lucky... I would love to be able to use it in Bitwig.

I've re-installed the OS and all software since I discovered the issue (drive upgrade), same result.

Yes I can confirm this happening. I don't remember this happening a while ago, so maybe Bitwig introduced an issue? Definitely report to Bitwig, I will too.

Same.

By the way I also tried loading equator in Komplete Kontrol first within Bitwig but it didn't help.
