Acustica Audio and Memphis Magnetic Recording Co. have joined forces for this exciting project to provide you with one of the finest ‘vintage’ plugin suites ever created.

Straw is a brand-new suite of Acqua plugins that faithfully recreates vintage units built in the USA by different manufacturers of high-quality, professional audio gear.

The centerpiece of this suite is a legendary custom console from the 1970s, once proudly hosted at the Grand Ole Opry, the revered sanctuary of country music in Nashville.
Now under the ownership of Memphis Magnetic Recording Co., this desk stands as a cherished symbol of musical heritage and excellence.

Renowned for their exceptional value and revered status within the American music scene, these consoles have left an indelible mark. They have played a vital role in recording iconic albums like The Rolling Stones’ “Some Girls” and numerous timeless R&B tracks at the famed Sigma Sound in Philadelphia (USA).

Today, acclaimed artists such as Ryan Adams, Jay Joyce (producer for Cage the Elephant, Coheed and Cambria, Eric Church, and Keith Urban), Cheap Trick, Boston, Marvin Gaye, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and many others continue to rely on these consoles.

In addition to this valuable vintage console, we have meticulously emulated other rare and refined pieces of gear to deliver an authentic digital representation of the Memphis Magnetic Recording Co. sound. The Memphis Magnetic Recording Co. is a purpose-built vintage analog recording studio designed by engineer/producer Scott McEwen and Suffolk Studio Design (http://www.memphismagneticrecording.com).

The studio has been growing its reputation in a few years, hosting sessions with Elvis Costello, Mike Doughty, Nicole Atkins, and local groups like Southern Avenue and Love Light Orchestra, and the Bluff City R&B big band who cut its recent release at Memphis Magnetic.

Prepare to be immersed in a world where the timeless charm of classic audio equipment converges with the limitless potential of digital technology.

Additionally, each plug-in included in the Staw suite comes in a 'standard' version and an alternative 'ZL*' version, which operates at *zero latency and is thus suitable for use when tracking (at the cost of extra processing resources).

NOTE: Please remember that for each plug-in in the Straw suite, we recommend calibrating your input levels to: -18dBFS = 0dBu.
This way, you will avoid unwanted distortion or unpredictable behavior due to excessive input levels.

We recommend reading the Straw user's manual to get the most out of this new plug-in suite.

Trialing Straw and liking it so far. I'm hitting the standalone pre at roughly -18 on the Straw input meter. What is the optimal level on the Straw input meter that I should be aiming for??

I bought most of their plugins but I can't get into the brand new old looking stuff. Probably just me.I'm sure it sounds good though just not my taste. Modern looking Plugins like Ocean and Ash and most of the others is a different story for me.

My God, people have forgotten that software is about making things simpler/convenient.
