Hi,

Feels like years since I was here. :-) I recently had a complete computer meltdown and replaced my shoddy Evesham with a spankin' PowerBook (1.5GHz G4, 1Gb RAM). I have of course installed Tracktion, but all my Windows plug-ins no longer work. So - what software do people use with Tracktion on OS X? Any hidden gems, like Blockfish, SIR, energyXT?

hi,
i have the same set-up. i use many smartelectronix plug-ins, blockfish, max, ni komplete, crystal (don't use it a lot), but i could do with a good compressor (a bit cleaner than blockfish, like rcl), eq and reverb (ambience is a bit limited and cpu intensive)

I have a similar setup. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a lot of osx vst support out there. Ashamed too, because there's a lot of good stuff out there for windows. C3 multi-band is a free compressor that sounds pretty good. The free plugsound is usefull but limited. Crystal, of course, and the smartelectronix plugs are a must.

one more vote for Smartelectronix and Crystal...

Congrats on the new Powerbook. I just recently discovered Tracktion and I love how well it performs with virtual instruments. I also use Crystal . . . it sounds great but hits the CPU hard. Check out VSamp - it's stable, cheap and is easy on the CPU. You could also run Raxx or Synth Test and trigger AU synths from Tracktion (you'll need a midi patcher like Midi Patchbay).

Don't overlook the MDA plugins  The multiband dynamics has a nice flavor. IMHO

... check ReMIDI from GrantedSW. Basic, but it works ... and will talk to apps such as reason too!

I use all of the above, plus microtera and sonicsynth free.
I also have reaktor, which works great with tracktion.
rewiring reason or melodyne also works pretty good

Hi guys,

Sorry to hijack the thread a bit but - sixnon thanks for the links. Some stuff there I hadnt tried :)

One question tho... has anyone got the NorthPole vst for OS X please (I forgot how much fun it was)? The installer is OS9 and of course I dont have a 9 partition...

End of hijack!

Thanks chaps!

I use NorthPole in OSX; it fudged up the first time I downloaded it, but the second time was fine. Does wonderful things to spoken word stuff...
Coffee please, black, no sugar.
