Is it possible to change the cutoff parameter only for the noise generator? I want the cutoff not to affect the rest of the oscillators, just the noise. I know that I can use a second scene for this purpose. But is it possible to do this only within one scene?
Hello :)
I am fairly sure the answer to your question is no.
Assuming you already tried the noise color slider ?
You could also try to change oscillator type to S&H noise and tweak some parameters for filter-like effect.
Thanks for the answer! "Noise color" is a good alternative. I can probably use this instead of cutoff.
"S&H noise" doesn't have an active cutoff slider, but that will probably be useful to me too.

It's possible in 1 scene but result is either hard panned left/right signals or summed mono audio. Route noise (mixer > triple orange box > right position) to filter 2 (filter of choice) and rest of the oscillators (mixer > triple orange box > left position) to filter 1 (off/no filter). Set the filter routing to stereo (L-R configuration). That should give you the left/right split in 1 scene. For mono sum audio result adjust width (scene output) to 0%.

Noise Color slider is exactly what Alex needs.

We haven’t implemented the clap preset factory extension in surge clap yet so they won’t fully auto scan and interact as far as I know.

Is it possible to modulate the rate of LFO1 with LFO2 in Surge? I can't find a way to do this...
Thanks

I've found it. I wish I could do this with the help of the faders like with other modulation though, instead of typing numbers...

Post

You can do it with a fader) Just use the arrow on the right the name lfo.

theres how you do it. Arm LF2 click the 'orange arrow' by LFO1, voila. You can also use the mod list or type ins of course

OT but how far along are you guys with shortcircuit?

I have a question: Is the modulation in SurgeXT possible at audio rate?

LFO rate goes up to 512Hz as far as i can see...

No, for CPU saving reasons. All modulation is calculated at 1/32ndth of host sample rate.

Not even alpha yet. It's all open source, you can check the progress but there's lots left to do still.

Keytracking does let you go higher. It's just that it gets *very* aliasy for the reason ED mentioned. The nyquist frequency for the modulation is in effect 1500 hz (if you're running at 48k, even lower at 44.1), which to put it lightly is obviously not great. :P

If you self-build Surge locally you can set the internal block size to 8 or 16 instead of 32. Which gives you one or two more octaves of not-terrible filter FM or whatever, at the cost of a bit more CPU (though not as much more as you'd think, in most situations). Still not good enough for saw or square wave modulation, really. But certainly good enough for sine-wave filter FM on basses!

We'll probably change that default to 16 or 8 in XT2. But that's even further down the line than Shortcircuit. ;)
And either way, it's fair to say this won't be one of Surge's strengths exactly.

thanks for the info!
