I don't know if you followed the pre-release comunications, but it became a kind of meme, cause it's been postponed multiple time, and they also made some jokes about that, at a certain point i was even doubtful if this was a kind of long april fool or what. But it turned out to be a real plugin, and today is finally out.

For those who doesn't know this clipper is meant to be a kind of digital recreation of a famous D/A converter, Lavry Gold. So here is not just about clipping but also about saturation. It's been told that back in the days engineers used that D/A as "secret weapon" and when i say secret i mean, they hided that converter from people eyes in their studios for real!

If you want to try it, there is a free demo

If you want to take a look on it before trying it, or just have an overal idea, i made a video you can watch it here

They think their magic pixie dust is all that, and essential. So good luck with that.

For Lavry Gold clipping :
- SIR Standardclip 'soft clip pro' mode
- Kazrog KClip 'crisp' mode

Both these clippers are way cheaper, have far better oversampling options, use less cpu, and are proven reliable workhorses.

Gold Clip has several major issues btw : huge DC offset and hearable high roll-offs.
The loudness war is over, loudness has won

But then again it's Gold after all...

Aliasing of the Alchemy knob when pushing it is troubling. Especially at this price point.

Tested the plugin and the Gold function of it sounds very nice. Not sure if it's worth the full price for everybody, but I can see MEs who often use clippers to find a lot of use for this.

I have Acustica Audio Ash and I can't hear any improvement over that.
