Thats probably true, and as you say, for most buyers in the end it comes down to pure calculation. Maybe not for everybody. What I noticed is that most buyers are not just one-time buyers. So if they know that they will probably continue to make purchases, then something like a lifetime fee or 1,50 €/USD monthly might just make sense.FakeNatty wrote: Wed May 03, 2023 8:02 am
In other words, most buyers will interpret the fee as "I'm now paying extra in fee", no matter who you choose to pay the fee.

Whatever happens I hope you find a way that works out for you. I know it has its challenges but I still believe a trusted s/h software marketplace would be a great thing.Grottengeier wrote: Wed May 03, 2023 7:18 am
Well if the buyer does not respond, you definitely have the paypal protection on your side, and it will not be difficult to get your money back. In those cases we will also give you your subscription money back (unless you already made other successful trades).
I am also a bit nervous about bypassing the usual concept of taking a sellers commission, but the tecnical aspects force us to do it. And really I don´t see why, if you already have made successful transactions on Knobcloud, you would not pay the fee, if in the end you´re saving money.

There’s probably a lot of users like myself who both buy and sell. IMO there’s already a fee for selling, the PayPal purchase protection fee that the platform tells all buyers to use when sending the payment.
Making this new KnobCloud user fee strictly on the seller side is kinda a 1-2 punch in the wallet for sellers.
I know some sellers try to make the buyer cover the fee on top of the asking/listing price, so I’m sure whomever’s side this new fee ends up on, trying to get the other side to cover it will be an option some choose.
Making the fee on the buyer’s side I feel would balance things out.

Hi, thanks everybody for chiming in. I have a new idea of how we could make some revenue, but I don´t want to disclose it at this point, and it would not involve any fees for the vst marketplace, it would basically be an expansion of the site.
I do have another question, which is mostly directed to the sellers. Would you stop selling on Knobcloud if we required a video call authentification procedure?
This would only be for sellers. It would require you to show your face and your ID in a video call, and we would store pics of face and ID to make sure the usual suspects are permanently shut out. I have an internal debate about this with my partner, he thinks its a bad idea, I think it is good, because it would really increase the safety - however, at the cost of privacy. Any thoughts on that?

i don't use it myself, but i really don't think the majority of people, would be happy having their photo ids stored online somewhere.
also, if someone is a scammer, im pretty sure fake id is easy enough to find/make...

Thanks for your opinion, and I would encourage anyone else who feels like that to please chime in as well. It is important for me to have a rough overview about how you feel about it. Maybe we could make it optional.shyko76 wrote: Mon Jun 19, 2023 11:42 am I'd stop using knobcloud immediately, if video authentification would become real. Way too intrusive!

yes, but on a call, you can't inspect the id, to see if it's just a printed copy or a real piece of id.Grottengeier wrote: Mon Jun 19, 2023 1:02 pmIt would be an actual call, so that would be hard to fakevurt wrote: Mon Jun 19, 2023 11:45 am i don't use it myself, but i really don't think the majority of people, would be happy having their photo ids stored online somewhere.

Yes, but we would have the face, and we would have talked, so since at the moment only one of us would do the verification, I think we would sort them out.vurt wrote: Mon Jun 19, 2023 1:05 pmyes, but on a call, you can't inspect the id, to see if it's just a printed copy or a real piece of id.Grottengeier wrote: Mon Jun 19, 2023 1:02 pmIt would be an actual call, so that would be hard to fakevurt wrote: Mon Jun 19, 2023 11:45 am i don't use it myself, but i really don't think the majority of people, would be happy having their photo ids stored online somewhere.

Being a developer myself, I would absolutely *not* want to store something as sensitive as id cards on my system. The risk is way, WAY too big. If you want your users to be identified, use a service like WebId or IDNow.
Again, do *not* try to store information this sensitive unless it's your core business.

Yeah I’d prob never sell on KnobCloud again, and l’d be tempted to do whatever “account deletion” there is available, if not for the transparency you've given here of talking with forum members.Grottengeier wrote: Mon Jun 19, 2023 9:49 am This would only be for sellers. I don’t think I’m too paranoid* about online safety, but with AI-powered scams ramping up, I definitely do not want:
- My face
- My ID
- My voice (potentially, since a video is going to exist for some time somewhere)
* if I was too paranoid, then I’d probably be like “HoW Do wE KnOW We HAVEn’T BeEn TaLKInG tO a ScAmMer oN KVR THiS WHoLE TiME?¿?” which I’m not.

Does anybody know what's going on with this platform's unpredictable approach? I got banned in 30 mins, after registration without any sign. And my only action was putting my spare legit licenses for my Cubase and Synthmaster. I've mailed through info@knobcloud 2 times and tried to reach this Grottengeier guy from different platforms. With my kindest questions about the situation and their site's policy. And guess what; 0 answers.
Appreciated communication, humanely! I hope that site is not handled by a guy in puberty.
How can people trust, share their information, and use this anxietic ****ng unprofessional platform?
