How did you find it ?

I'm wondering if it's worth finally taking the jump from 10 to 11 given I'm now getting windows notifications nagging me I can upgrade

I found the switch to be a non issue. After all, it's basically Windows 10 in a new dress. You most likely will have no issues upgrading.

Some of them might require to be activated again. Hard to say, as almost every company uses a different method.

In general, most shouldn't have a problem.

I spent a long time with my new Win11-native PC reinstalling apps etc from my old Win10-from-Win7 machine that died (due to sheer volume) but updating Win10-native to Win11 on the other box was no worse than any major Windows Update release - scary but didn't actually break anything. And it went pretty quick, too.

Thanks for the info I was going to clone my drive beforehand anyway just incase but it's nice to know it should be relatively painless

I do understand the "nagging" part but doing an inplace upgrade will not get your DAW to an optimum state - clean install is the way forward here.

And while WIn 11 is certainly "there" - there is zero compelling reasons to move to it for the work we do on a typical DAW. Win 11 will not suddenly make things "better" or "faster" or anything like that.

If anything - Win 10 will continue to be better for DAW work for the simple fact that it is stable, mature and has an 7 year head start on 11. And requires much less overhead.

I agree with the post above mine, upgrading will slow down your system as its an installer/uninstaller. Only a clean disc install would be the fast way for it to perform.

I'm on Win 11, and I used win 10 on another computer for a while. Its all about the same, performance is how good your computer's parts are.
