Whatever... 11 suite forever.
11 Suite is forever using CodeMeter components, which also means you're basically restricted like a Steinberg Software eLicenser or One Software iLok activation.

Lol. No thank you.

Beyond that, HiDPI/M1 Native/VST3 Support is all missing in that version - all of which are very problematic given how accessible HiDPI Displays and Mac hardware has become, and the increasing number of plug-ins being released for or updated to VST3/AU-only.

Besides, many of us have Desktop + Laptop. Having to gain access to a machine just to deactivate and move a license over to use it on a Laptop when you're on the go is a PITA and when this is not done it renders the projects incompatible with your other machine.

-----

The synths are fine, but honestly I never use them anymore as I have better than most of them. Stuff like Object doesn't really appeal to me (too expensive as a "just in case" purchase) - the modeling synths I have are good enough. I basically only use it for three of the players as MIDI FX.

Plus, I'm clutching my purse these days. Basically only keeping things up to date, as I have very little need for additional plug-ins, DAWs, sample libraries, etc. I'm probably going to start investing in hardware for a bit. I want a new M2 Max Mac Studio, Lol.

"Notifications for Nothing" are annoying. Blocking me in return is a good way to avoid this.

It is a very fun DAW, and as a user of Ableton Live as well as Reason, I'd say that Reason is a much funner/easier DAW to learn IMHO. Whether you have troubles or not is relative to whether you want to put the work in or not. There's a plethora of Reason 12 tutorials on Youtube to get you started, though.

I like it very much. Am using Reason 12 as a closed system to collect ideas and make them into song starters. My favourite playground.

Same. Great sketch pad. The blocks feature is something I rate highly

What is blocks, like old school Fruity Loops?

Is there ever sales on? It is £500 right now for standalone which is quite steep and I'm not keen on the subscription thing.

Blocks are essentially old-school sequence clips. And yes, it goes on sale sometimes. It was on sale as recent as last month.

Reason is a wonderful and inspiring DAW. However, just two negative points I hope will change in the future, first the hardware support and second the ergonomic of the three main parts is not great unless you have a widescreen monitor to put all three parts (sequencer, rack and mixer). I can't see all three with my 27" monitor, so I keep switching between them.
Anyway, it is a unique experience and the modular nature is definitely a very powerful feature.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Well I love Reason as a Rack plugin but I had to work with the daw recently and I must admit I found the experience terrible...
I used to like it somehow but after switch to Bitwig there are obvious very annoying things.

First when I had to sidechain my kick with different basses, I had to create an utility (spider, and then browse all the inputs) for that because only one output for sidechain, that's a ton of click for such a simple thing.
Second: effects on a channel. In bitwig I look at the channel I immediately see the effects applied. In Reason, you need to look at the numerous mixer settings, then check that you have no vsts attached (which you can't do easily). Again that is a chore when it should be immediate. (In bitwig you press D, you see your channel).
Also the vst 3 support, I had 2 crashes in 20 minutes with reason and ozone. Full crash. That's more that what I had on bitwig l.... ever.

So Reason, yes, the devices are awesome, the effects are awesome but the DAW, frankly, it's not up to modern standards.

Yeah using the skeumorphic UI is a bit like…

I see.
Well, for me, I don't use sidechain a lot. It is just sometimes when I have a kick with a bass clashing.
I usually use just Reason devices (and REs), so no VSTs because I want the classic premium stability that Reason provided before it opened up.
If I want to use VSTs or AUs, I use either Cubase, Live or Logic with Reason as a plugin, but I like sometimes to see and learn the creative ways that Reason users do with cabling!

Yeah, I think either you use reason with RE only either it is really a twisted workflow ...
The benefit of the reason "real life" design is that you concentrate only on vital stuffs as it is quite long to setup anyway so you only do it when it is really needed.
The negative counterpart is that it limits exploration....

If you apply clapping emojis to your own post you’ve already lost the argument

That's adorable. Are we having an argument? Both your unnecessarily lengthy YouTube video and my GIF were light hearted, as far as I can tell.
