If someone sold a sample pack that sounded like this, nobody would buy it. Looks like fun though.

What did I miss? If people are saying it sounds great but in my estimation nobody would buy a sample pack that sounds like these examples, then perhaps it doesn't really sound that great after all. Just my opinion.

I believe Synplant makes a lot of sounds that people already like a lot (no experience here, other than watching videos a while ago about version one). From the version two sneak peaks, maybe people are imagining the possibilities based on sounds they have previously made. I'm imagining it and wondering, and I am looking forward to demoing it.Aloysius wrote: Thu Jun 22, 2023 11:23 pm What did I miss? It certainly looks like fun. I have v1, so will be waiting to experience v2 for myself.

It is something new, fresh (not another analog emulator with saw and triangle waves), it completely transform existing sounds and it sounds clean and beautiful. A lot of people are into synths and FX like that, experimental producers, ambient, film and games, sound designers making sample packs.

this is a ridiculous take on the demos we've seen. by my estimation your estimation is narrow minded.Aloysius wrote: Thu Jun 22, 2023 11:23 pm What did I miss? The example with the modular sample was pretty good, imo. ymmv.Dirtgrain wrote: Fri Jun 23, 2023 12:02 amI believe Synplant makes a lot of sounds that people already like a lot (no experience here, other than watching videos a while ago about version one). Imagine you had one sample of synth, and you loved that sample, but stretched over the entire keyboard it sounded gash, no matter what time-stretch algo you used. This kind of resynthesis, while not a 100% reproduction, does a good job of providing a very usable patch, with a ton of variation available. The first example with the flute was also pretty cool.
The vocal example, well yes... but it's only a 2 osc synth with FM. And, that said, crazy unexpected results are also welcome.

of course. opinions are what this site is made of. some opinions miss the point and are narrow minded. which is my personal opinion.

Perhaps... the stage has been set.MrJubbly wrote: Wed May 17, 2023 5:34 pmI found it interesting how, in the Synplant 2 video demo of "Genopatch", they featured several rather 'percussive-sounding' instruments. I think it's probably more than likely that some variant of this "Genopatch" will also find its way into the next major update of Microtonic.

Just want to say, hats off for this incredible innovation, very cool. Cool enough for me to buy, don't know, but still, I like the innovative spirit.
He should think about the voice AI changers and how that can be applied to real time synthesis morphing etc, next maybe?
