I've updated from XP to 7 to 10 to 10 (22h2)just the other week ... I did like 10 but I do not like the 22h2 update . I imagine Windows 11 is pretty similar to 10 (22h2) update ? Maybe I just have to get used of it ? I really like 7 and 10 at 1st ... I really just need Windows10 or 11 for my music making thing . If and when I do a gaming build , I'll do Chimera OS /(steamdeck is) with an AMD CPU/GPU build . I'm sure I'll get used of the 22h2 update but I'm not to thrilled about of a couple of things so far .

Hmmm as far as I can remember, there only have been minor changes in 22H2 (Windows 10 is done with the 22H2 update in terms of features, and, there were very few new features in the 22H2 update).

And... you say that you updated "the other week". Why didn't you install the latest version of Windows 10 right away? Microsoft always offers the latest version on this website: https://www.microsoft.com/de-de/softwar ... /windows10 There's no need to install an old Windows 10 version, and then update to the latest.

My computer Windows 10 hadnt been updated since early 2020 , because my wife had worked from home , due to COVID . The Microsoft account sign in thingy and the Bing search bar being in the middle of my screen is what set me off .

If you read the rest of the thread, you will find out. I'm OK with the right-click menus and most of the rest of it but Win11's Start menu doesn't come close to meeting my needs. It is easily the second-worst Start menu Windows has ever had, almost as bad as Vista/Win7.

I gave in very early to Open Shell "8" for Win11. Plus the right-click tweak, which is the real sanity saver. I was planning to keep my "clean machine" (music-only) clean, but I had to get rid of the Win11 skin.

Still, I can't drag new files onto the taskbar for, e.g. projects in Reaper (right-click, pinned files) -- that got hard in Win10 but seems non-existent in Win11: except my updated machine preserved those that were in place.

I did, but my Windows 11 was something called 11S. S is for Safe, and that meant you could only download apps from the Microsoft store. This was not going to work, but there's a way to switch it to regular. Once you do, it says you can't put it back. But I did, and I haven't noticed any difference. Everything works. Native Access chugs along. The only issue I've had was an older plugin install that wanted me to pull up the VST, enter a serial, which I guess it tried to check, and the W11 does not like unauthorized connections, so it just shut FL down totally. This plug was from 2003 or so and I've installed others that old that had the serial check with no problems.

Personally, I've always upgraded Windows to the latest version ever since Microsoft basically started offering those updates for free.

In the past, I tended to stick to upgrading Windows every other version, since Windows updates tended to go from good to bad (ME bad, XP good, Vista bad, etc...).

Plus, I would generally tend to time those updates with a hardware upgrade anyway, since I've never felt a direct need to pay for a Windows update.

I've luckily not experienced any major issues with Windows 11 so far.

2 of my 3 PC computers are upgraded to 11, one is 10.

No big difference, no challenges from the DAW point of view.

I upgraded to Win11 from Win10 and the only issues i had was a license on my eLicenser dongle wasn't showing up and the eLicenser Control Center wouldn't allow me to run the maintenance feature. I googled the problem and took some advice to uninstall eLicenser Control Center from Windows Control Panel then i re-installed the latest eLicenser Control Center installer.
Happy ending, all my licenses are now showing up and all software running as expected.
Can't remember which license it was sorry it was late on one night.

Forgot to say have had issues with older VST UI's. Usually Synthedit or Synthmaker. One old Linplug VST gave me fits. I don't know if it's the graphics card, the Bridge, maybe a little of both, but I found if I minimize the Bridge window then Restore it it's fine.

W11 has no advantages, only further limitations (taskbar, scroll bars, hidden context menus, etc.), which will increase with further versions, until you can only run applications (if that isn't the forward-thinking AI... )

My only issue has been with Waves plugs where I had to delete and reinstall them, touch wood no more issues pop up

Plenty of issues with various audio interfaces(MOTU for me) especially if you're running Intel processor with the Performance/efficiency cores.

new Flowstone VSTs have never been intrinsically broken here,
I run 2 of them for about 4 hours every day atm
Executable is fine too, but .exe is a bit obfuscated now
I wonder what I want in here
-actually, my lucky number seems to be 126
