I had an idea about making a series of videos of more casual patch experiments. Not a demo of one specific thing or a musical piece, no specific formats or types of gear but more like a high level exploration of technique.

(2026/05/02) Live Rig Tour

(2025/12/06) Live performance and interview with Humongous Frog

(2025/11/22) Live performance and Interview with Eric Beam.

(2025/10/25) Using Modular Synths with Bitwig Studio.

(2025/10/11) Live performance and Interview with Marc Laidlaw.

(2025/09/27) Using Modular Synths with Bitwig Studio.

(2025/09/13) Live performance and interview with DMAXWL.

(2025/08/30) Studio Tour

(2025/08/16) My first live stream. An improvised ambient set with Arp2600 and 200 series clone system.

(2024/01/08) First 20 minutes of demonstration of Serge modular for LA Synth Club.

(2023/06/24) The second episode in this series. This time I apply some of the concepts from my previous video to eurorack modules.

(2023/05/27) Here is the first one, which just happens to focus on some STS Serge panels but the concepts translate to a lot of different modules...

I've got a few more of these in the works with a lot more patch ideas I'd like to show, so hopefully I can keep this up! :hihi:

Thanks to all of those who have watched this far!
I have enough footage for another video or two, one in which I used the same core patch (DUSG+NCOM) as a burst generator and another in which I demonstrate the same kind of patch but with eurorack modules.

However, I'm thinking of covering some other topics before returning to this patch. Dunno. Hopefully I'll have something new for y'all by next weekend!

I posted episode two earlier today.

I probably don't have to tell you that we're usually pretty baked when I do the VO for these things.

Just seeing this thread now! I’ll check them out soon. Looking forward to the baked voiceovers.

that's better! i can follow this one :hihi:

well, i can follow the other one, but i have to do some thinking about what i can use, as i don't have any of the same bits. but tips for things i own! always handy!

Thanks guys!
I also have footage of the same patch being used as a burst generator but I'm going to move on to other stuff before I finish. I mean really, you just need to run both slope generators at a slower rate and trigger the first slope generator externally, rather than letting it cycle. I just got bored of hearing the same patches for several weeks. :hihi:

As I mentioned elsewhere, the next episode will be focused on feedback techniques. :-o :tu:

I did a presentation with my big Serge modular last month but the video didn't come out that great.

I only got the first quarter of the presentation and my audio recorder flaked out, so I only had the audio from the camera. Still I hope it can be a little informative.

I'm back at the Patching @ 3am concept...
I did a live stream on Saturday the 16th, just a short improvised ambient set featuring Arp2600 and my Buchla modular. Here is a link:

This Saturday, I plan to do another live stream at 1pm PST. I don't really have anything planned, so I think I will do a bit of a studio tour, answer some questions and maybe patch something on the fly. I'll post a link once I have it setup

Let me know if you have any inquiries about my studio or the stuff I do.

Post

Here is the link for my next stream. I'll go live at this time (1pm PST) tomorrow!

@elxsound if you are in the chat again, I'd like to shout you out but I realized last time that I don't know how to say your screen name out loud. Is it el-x-sound? or is it e-l-x-sound?

:hihi: Honestly good question… I say it as e-l-x-sound, but it was supposed to be el-x-sound

It definitely does not roll off the tongue and with elon tusk’s obsession with anything “x” the “e-l-x” works.
