I wish they have reworked EQ4 instead. For some reason that's the only EQ thas sounds completely different from other QEs with exactly same settings. Just try it's 24 highpass filter at 100 Hz (and same Q)Too much low frequencies are still coming through for some reasons.
Other effects are top notch though. And I actually like the synth.

Interesting, i just tried this and you are completely right. I had never noticed this. Compared to Ozone EQ, Pro Q3 and Nova GE, TB EQ 4 let the most lows through on a hi pass w/ the same settings. Ozone and Pro Q3 sounded the most similar (almost identical).Igro wrote: Sun Jun 25, 2023 1:34 pm I wish they have reworked EQ4 instead. Thanks Matt for conforming this. I have compared to Melda AutoDynamicEQ, ReaEq and also downloaded FabFilter EQ3 demo just to have more accurate measuring (+ FL EQ2).MattLeschuck wrote: Sun Jun 25, 2023 4:40 pmInteresting, i just tried this and you are completely right. Also, when inreasing the Q to the extremes, only Melda and FabFilter didn't fall apart and gave a nice clean resonance. Seems like not all EQ are same. In general, these two sounded identical quality wise.
Of course, sorry for the offtop. It just because I wanted to buy EQ4, as it has very fast workflow for small money.

You might want to send them a quick email. The 24db HP may actually only be running at 12db and be a bug.Igro wrote: Sun Jun 25, 2023 5:05 pmThanks Matt for conforming this. I agree, TB makes a nice, easy to use EQ. I have the older model that came with a bundle I bought to get really good quality basics.
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?

If the problem is actually the 24db HP not being accurate and the dev fixes it whis will cause a hell of projects that use this filter mode sound differently... ouch...syntonica wrote: Sun Jun 25, 2023 5:37 pmYou might want to send them a quick email. Here is a PluginDoctor comparison between TB eQ4 and Acon Equalize 2, both in HP 24dB/oct @ 100hZIgro wrote: Sun Jun 25, 2023 1:34 pm I wish they have reworked EQ4 instead. I think Fabfilter Twin 3 kinda made Flowtones pointless, don't you think? Similar features, vastly better GUI (Twin 3).

Any updates on this? Have you notified the dev about it?Igro wrote: Sun Jun 25, 2023 1:34 pm I wish they have reworked EQ4 instead. It's just a different implementation of hipass not a bug I think. Usually parametric eqs utylize butterworth hipass filter (acon, schaack, probably proq etc). TBeq4 uses different one which is very similar to hipasses in for example DDMF IIQPro or Luftikus Qrange.Igro wrote: Sun Jun 25, 2023 1:34 pm I wish they have reworked EQ4 instead. MattLeschuck contacted Jeroen about this. Jeroen said that TB EQ 4 does -3db in the 24db filter.
Anyway, it still doesn't explain why way more low end still cutting through it. Not my cup of tea.
