thnaks, mate :-D

I have already made another (fifth) version and have reworked the snare again...

(besides I tried to get the original power back :? )

http://www.zone-x-music.com/mp3/exploding5.mp3

Dunno about 'ancient ghosts' - I am very satisfied with the composition but now with the mix.

I have to rework it one day.

Also I decided to not include any intrumental in this first demo.

The other tracks I decided to chose are:

- 'Icarus' first flight'

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23701

- 'we burn'

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=25256

- 'lust'

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=34375

The latter needs to be reworked as well
(I'm halfway done with that) - and I could need your help there as well again...

I think those four tracks fit together rather nicely.
I don't want the A&Rs to think: 'that guy doesn't know what he wants' just because I'm enamoured with too many different 'styles'... :?

amazing!
mal wat anderes!
I would leave it like it is, this really rocks and the FX and FXseqs. are really good.
"mad Tüftler" :)

ah, the "snare" works now (definately not a snare anymore, almost a hihat, but who cares :D ), because it's a minor sound again.
before it was too "big" but not "strong" enough.

ok, so now make it longer ;)
i have no idea how actually, but i like it so much :D

about the other demo songs: i don't know "we burn" yet, will download after posting this.
lust is nice and icarus first flight is really great and fits on a demo quite well, a friend of minde once said, it reminded him of the better works of madonna(s producers :hihi: ) 8)

I know I said this before, Jens, :D , but to my ears "ancient ghosts in modern clothes" is a masterpiece, and any person who might to listen to ANY demo should (and the good ones will) judge because of art and not only because of too much/less compression on the halfclosed deafbeat- hihat :x :x
:hihi:
No, to be serious, surely this is important and I stop with this rant now after having told it 3 times . Just like good old Genesis and many Punk bands and the Legendary Pink Dots and more said and did: it's art that counts, not only the plugin-folder or your amazing (lechz) hardware.

So "ANCIENT GHOSTS" stays my favourite with "Icarus" and others. I think, whereas i normally don't like tooooo much EINORDNUNGEN, = judgings what your music is (techno, house, trance, new prog etc etc), here I do like the title and think it suits well to your music. I would have chosen it even for a title of an album, as with your music there's no danger of getting answers like "we don't like ancient ghosts"...

Your beginnings are rather great, for example at "pluie d'automne"...

Anyway, what am I talking, it's your music :D .

Post

thanks again to both of you :-D

you are absolutely right, Georg - the production/mix is not as important as the idea itself. It merely helps to get the idea through to the listener - that's how I see it - for me the melody always comes first...

but then: if all music-consumers would be like me I'd already be millionaire... :hihi:

yep, ancient ghosts is definately a masterpiece, i can't imagine anything more catchy.
it's one of the few "nothing but fun" songs that keep working after you get used to "the trick" (delay lama in this case :D ).

and it's extremely high energy and it simply screams: it's summer! 8)

of course you could rework it, some areas would benefit from that.
like that guitar, that is not 100% tight all the way, and yeah, the mixing is no masterpiece etcetc.
but it's worth a rework :)

but hey, whatever you choose, if you want comments like on this song (talking about exploding again), just ask/post ;)

thanks, Ingo :-D

(there will still be a few minor chnages though  )

 I'm very glad that you both like 'ancient ghosts' that much... :-D

I'm sure I still can improve it very much...

I'm gonna start remixing 'lust' the next few days and then I'll need your comments again... :-D

Well, that's surely true as after reworking I surely wouldn't find that very fine song worse.
By the way, I didn't know about the delay-lama-trick, whereas Delay Lama was one of the first thingies I'd liked as I had found it on an old 2001 or 02 mag-CD... thanks for telling that, luCIPHer! Don't know the trick now :D but don't need to, and it's fun to know it was used...

:D the strange voice is automated delay lama...

'we burn' features it as well b.t.w.

Post

okay, some things about we burn:

quite nice, i like that more or less "jungle" beat (loops involved?).
i also like your singer of those days, while not as "beautiful" as bina, she sounds just cool when "going crazy" :D

compared to more recent stuff, the sound is, of course, quite flat.
the mastering as well as some synth-sounds (those space-rays copuld be more interesting and lively).
but you used delay lama in a nice way, quite ethereal and not "for fun", i like that :)

a "problem" on a demo might be the first few seconds of singing, while it's "cool" it is also somehow "ugly" (on purpose i guess :D ), if that sequence would start less brutal, it might work better in general, and especially in the ears of "money people" ;)

i guess you don't have "access" to that singer anymore, so she cna't sing a variation for you, where she could start whispering or in a child like voice for example, and then rise and freak out (she could get way more freaky that way as well :D )
but you could still alter that sequence with some kind of filtersweep (well, quite a tarnce effect :hihi: , might work anyway) or something similar.

whew, i hope all this made sense, if not, request a german version ;)

Man; and 5 different version and three pages later

1x Emmm; I just listened to the first a couple of times and then all variations in a row and the first one again. I must say each track in a small sense had improvements and also at some points experimenting with some different elements. Personally I think the way the lead/drums/pads worked together best in the prime part of the track (in the sense of what catched my ear) happens in the very original track. The dynamics of the original lead more towards a climax in my ears then I have heard in the follow up tracks.

2x Emmmmmmm... well that's what I thought and felt

3x Emmmmmmmmmmmmmm and every time I hear one of your tracks I think back to us making music in one room with Mick

You have a lot of talented ears and ideas 8)

that was great, wasn't it? :-D

I still remember how much fun we had and how drunk we were (well at least I was while I've been pretending the whole time 'oh in case think I'm drunk - that's not true at all' - well if nothing else that would have betrayed me... :hihi:)

I also still remember trying to play a synth solo in time with Mick's 40+ms latency... :-o

:D

thanks for your nice comments about my music, Mark..

yes, I also feel that the original version kicked most (had the best dynamic... ) but I think I've almost restored it now with version5 while the overall production-quality is much better... :?

yes, it all made sense - thanks :-D

dunno if I could manage to work with her again, I could at least give her a call and ask her...

but we recorded a lot of material at that time - I have to check what is still there... :?

it's indredible how dirty she can sing, isn't it?

she has been doing a lot of hardcore/crossover before and has been smoking&drinking a lot of substances you actually shouldn't consume... :hihi: - but what a cute african girl she is :D

(and if you think about that this is the same voice.... )

Post

b.t.w.: I also recorded Bina singing it later on...

I think you have a fantastic idea there... :hail:

maybe I could do a nice soft start with Bina singing
'the clock - tick-tock - feel - live - don't stop'
'til suddenly the hell breaks loose when the beat kicks in and Tánia starts to sing... :-D
