Changing a step clip's time signature?

Is it possible to change a step clip's time signature from 3/4 to 6/8, while leaving the audio tracks as 3/4? If I change the whole project to 6/8, then the metronome is 2x too fast to be useful. I need the metronome to remain in 3/4 time. Thank you.
