EDIT: But I'll tell you what I definitely will NOT do. Unless they develop something earth-shattering, I will never buy from them again. I don't like being bitten by the same dog twice.
Thanks for the perspective and I have the same approach with Waves now. I WUPed everything before they went rogue just to get up to date and resolve some frustrations and issues. But I unsubscribed from all Waves marketing spam and I don't even look at anything they put out or sales etc. They are dead to me in terms of adding new tools to my kit.

It's just a key detector though?

I also thought the same, but then couldn’t be bothered to keep the hatred going towards a music SW company.

And I also like the look of the handily priced new key detector.

Wise.

All this stuff about never buying anything new... phhh. On the one hand, most of us are GAS sufferers and we should buy less of anything so yay. On the other it very quickly becomes cutting off nose to spite face if there's something that's genuinely useful.

Looking ahead, Waves look in a pretty good place to me. I think most innovation from this point will be AI-related (or machine learning if you prefer) and I'd fully expect an array of miraculous products to appear over the coming years doing things that were previously impossible. Waves are looking good there - though de-reverb was a bit disappointing, Vx is excellent, and now the new key detector will be useful for some. Point is - they're in the AI game with a track record. It's not just going to be an array of new vintage compressors with a billon x oversampling.

If you want or need none of it, great. But if it's purely your own grudges stopping you accessing any of it... well.

The 30 bucks I spent on Clarity has been a game changer. The time I spend at my job doing noise reduction has been reduced to a fraction of what it used to be. It's a great utility plugin.

I know I said that I wasn't gonna invest in Waves, however, I did end up getting the DBX 160. Man, that thing makes the drums punch hard. I also have the Arturia version (different models though), but I much prefer this one, at least on the drums. I might get the API series plugins next, starting with the 2500 Bus Compressor.

If you want to buy a Waves Key Detector, you might as well buy a Hornet Songkey MK4 for 5 euros.
