IK Multimedia Mixbox? [Qualifies for group buy promo] - NOT ANYMORE, THEY UPDATED THE TERMS AND RESTARTED THE GROUP BUY

I can’t stand most of the IK stuff and way of working with their installers. But I did grab this at $29 and its a very nice flavor added in contrast to my other FX rack type plugins (Guitar Rig 6 & Snap Heap)

The good thing about Mixbox is that it doesn't install anything else, and is an individual installer, for just Mixbox, unlike the T-RackS, which spills all over your plugin folders.

Anyways, I don't mind having all of the T-RackS installed, as long as I actually have a license for the plugins. Nobody wants 20 demo versions of plugins installed on their system. That's just annoying.

I like selected IK Products. The new iLoud monitors seem to be making quite a buzz. I haven't heard them personally ofc, but they seem to be quite hyped online. Even the new Tonex seems to be a hit product. I hope they can manage to revive some of their old products and provide some quality-of-life updates. For example, some T-RackS plugins like the CSR's have never been updated, I guess. Although, they did release a few new reverbs, which I bought (all of them), as they're quite good. Some older emulations can be much better, we know they're capable of it. The newer ones like Distressor are pretty good, and IK Tape Machines are some of the best emulations to exist, so it's not like they can't, more like they won't.

Apparently, the CSR reverb algorithms have been updated for Mixbox, as per their description.
- 4 all-new algorithms for hall, room, plate and inverse reverbs

Soooooooooooo, I just visited the IK Multimedia website to check out the modules in Mixbox, and they have a new group buy promo going on, and guess what? Mixbox is a qualifying product under the $99 category.

So if you guys bought Mixbox for $29.99, you automatically qualify for the group buy under the $99 category (if you haven't registered yet, or before they started the group buy promo).

Just wanted to let y'all know.

Would I have to buy it again to qualify? It says in my account that I don’t have any qualifying products in my account. I registered it last week.

EDIT: IK Multimedia also reset the website, so the group buy has apparently started from scratch again. Shady stuff going on.

The TR5 Tape Machines NEED to be updated with an ECO mode, because they literally use 3x as much CPU as the native UAD Studer A800. Now that anyone can buy and use the Spark UAD Studer plugin, the IK Tape Machines are totally unacceptable in their current state.

Absolutely. They need a render mode and a studio (eco) mode. In my opinion, all plugins that support ovs should have this option.

That or even just a global preference with oversampling options of 1x, 2x, 4x, 8x.

If I could reduce it from the fixed 8x oversampling to even 4x, it would be usable for real-time mixing. But IK seems to design plugins with no consideration for real-world application, and once they release a plugin, that’s it.

It's not shady. Poor choice of words from my end indeed. Although, they group buy was live at the same time as the sale on Black Octopus. So, as MixBox was a part of the promo, I decided to buy it and use it for the GROUP BUY. Later on their website, black-octopus, add a disclaimer that MixBox won't be a part of the group buy. How's that a good practice in any world?

I can only assume its perhaps a fault of Black Octopus not updating the website before the group buy went live, an honest mistake

What is difficult to understand here? It qualifies as a 99$ product if you add it to the cart at that price - it doesn't if you purchase it for 29$ from a retailer as a special deal.

Use some common sense people - and don't be greedy beyond limits.
