What is essentially a UI upgrade is not worth $39, nor should it be a full numbered version change. This is like a .5 update. I assume the number of mod slots is still super limited since I didn't notice anything about that in the change list.

There of course is another way to look at it (which is how I did)..
There have been many free updates along the way, for me this is paying the developer something for all his hard work for those free updates along the way.

Please stay fair and see that we released 11 free updates for Nemesis during the last 10 years. There are not many other companies out there that release as many free updates as we do. At some point we need to earn some money to cover our costs. Development won't stop with v3.0.
Reference: https://www.tone2.com/nemesis-update.html
The new UI features that we introduced aren't something that you can do with a few mousclicks and new bitmaps. Unlike many other companies we do not use JUCE for the interface. We used Steinberg's VSTGUI and porting everything to VSTGUI4 was a lot of difficult work. Big parts of the code needed to be rewritten and tons of bugs in VSTGUI4 needed to be fixed.
But it was worth the effort. Especially on Mac with Retina the visual difference in quality is really significant.
New sounds:
Nemesis3 contains 100 new production-ready sounds. The patches were created by the developer of Tone2 synthesizers himself.
All patches are carefully crafted and can be morphed with the modwheel.
To keep it easy to find find the right patch the new ones were distributed among the existing categories. You can easily detect the new sounds, as their name ends with 'N3' (Nemesis3).

Not everyone has had "many" free updates, some recent purchasers have had 0 free updates. This is just bad business strategy IMO. Why should someone who got 0 or 1 minor free update subsidize those that got a bunch of free updates and have owned the synth for years?zvenx wrote: Fri Jun 30, 2023 4:23 am There of course is another way to look at it (which is how I did)..

Of course this is still a great synth and a worthy deal for brand new users.

And as Markus said, you will get free upgrades in the future.
But like everything else, if you don't think it is worth it...don't buy it.

There was a grace period for the free update.
We always have an open ear for our faithful customers. Feel free to contact me by email markus(a t)tone2(do t)net. I'll look for a solution for you that makes you happy.

Bought the Update! It's great, that this gets developed further. For the future I hope to have more effect slots, a Multiband comp and a filter in the effects. a mseg wouldn't hurt either!

I don't need a solution, I'll just buy an update if the new changes are worth the update price at some point in the future.

There is a also misunderstanding. I sent you a PM.

I'm not interested in a free upgrade. I'll buy an upgrade if enough updates make it worth my while. I'm not trying to get free stuff. Im just commenting that I think this approach is just not a smart business decision.
Condescending retorts about how I shouldn't post on the internet completely miss my earlier (now voluntarily deleted) point. I can and do post all I want about my own purchases, as does everyone here. I don't want other people that have trusted access to my personal financial or purchase info divulging that information without my consent.
