Hiya, Ableton Live 11 on mac. When I don't use the adaptive grid in the piano roll so I just select a fixed grid say 1/16 or 1/4 and draw midi note by double clicking in the piano roll. When I click on an existing note and drag it with the mouse it does not always snap to grid. It does my head in. Very often it just slides off the grid for some reason and I am keep having to quantize. Is there a solution to this? Can it not just snap to that feakin' grid like in other daws?

"event positions can be moved freely up to the previous or next grid line and then will snap if you continue to drag"

I've seen that thanks. The issue is that when 'you continue to drag' it doesn't always snap to grid accurately.

Which setting do you have the Adaptive Grid set to? That makes a diff, methinks?

The way it works for me is when fixed grid is selected say 1/16, the adaptive grid is off, so none of the adaptive grid options are selected.drez wrote: Sat Jul 01, 2023 6:21 pm Which setting do you have the Adaptive Grid set to? That makes a diff, methinks?

You have to continue to drag until the note start touches the previous/next grid line, not just continue to drag back and forth within one grid subdivision.audiouser720 wrote: Sat Jul 01, 2023 4:11 pm I've seen that thanks. Otherwise, I can't replicate your problem here (Live 11.3.3 on Win 10).
If you are using stuff that messes with mouse+ keyboard input like LES then maybe try checking those.
