Also, the CPU usage is bare minimum, as these are quite old

I still am pissed they were going to leave me out to dry after buying almost all their plugins.

Exactly - a little common sense goes a long way...noiseboyuk wrote: Sun Jul 02, 2023 6:59 amYes, crystal balls. Waves were humiliated. In our industry I cannot recall of another misstep so big, and so catastrophic for business that it got overturned in 3 days. Does anyone seriously think they’ll say “that was 6 months ago, come on let’s give it another go?”
“Gee, sticking my hand in boiling oil really hurt last time. But perhaps boiling oil is okay now?”
IMO broadly where we are is where we’ll stay. Subs plus perpetual.

This week's sale is on, and has some modest additional upgrade discounts. For me from Platinum & L3-16 to Horizon was $150, now it's £128 for 19 extra and 2 free plugins. That's pretty good - will look into resellers too.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Thu Jun 22, 2023 2:05 pmIn any case, when they officially do the bundle sale, which should start sooner than later, the prices will come further down. Then, we could buy it from a dealer for an even better price. Best to not upgrade right now.

Much to Waves credit, my account (and presumably all others similar) was granted Scheps Omni Channel 2 when it was released the other week. My Scheps Omni Channel was out of WUP but was on version 14 already. One would expect Waves to require WUP be current for such an upgrade. Perhaps they are learning and growing

…and just to confirm that the free plugin promo does apply to resellers too.
Got an amazing deal in the end.

I think the pro industry will continue to use Waves plugins no-matter-what, their business is dependent on these plugins.
But, many of us are hobbyist and can easily switch to another brand.
Don't see any reason to use a $30 per year plugin when I can buy a $30 one time pay plugin of a similar quality.
Also, there is always a risk they will force subscription model again.

You absolutely don't pay that every year - only when you need to make an OS upgrade (which is why I'm doing it now). On my main Windows 10 rig I have some v10 plugins that work as well now as I did when I bought them 7 years ago. For the shiny new M2 Macbook (which needs v14 to work in Pro Tools native mode), I got 21 new plugins for the on-sale cost of about 3, and of course got up to date with WUP. I don't feel hard done by.roman.i wrote: Tue Jul 25, 2023 6:24 amDon't see any reason to use a $30 per year plugin when I can buy a $30 one time pay plugin of a similar quality.

I think we've dealt with the risk of Waves trying subs-only again on this thread - spectacularly unlikely.

Nice! My Mercury + Studio Classics Collection upgrade from Horizon, Studio Classics and misc. is still the same, $440, which is way too high. Even with resellers it would not be lower than $300 I assume. I can and will wait.noiseboyuk wrote: Mon Jul 24, 2023 2:33 pmThis week's sale is on, and has some modest additional upgrade discounts. EDIT: Received a $250 off special coupon from Waves for Mercury upgrade. Real tempted now, especially since the price will be even better with resellers (< $200). Could probably be the lowest ever upgrade price, so guess it's time to pull the trigger.

For anyone interested in Mercury for whatever reasons (included products/upgrade/WUP), if you have the $250 off voucher from Waves, the current deal is probably the best it can get. It at least did for me and I finally upgraded to Mercury for well under $200. And got two free plugins as well, which were surprisingly not included in Mercury. For context, WUP of only the Horizon bundle costs around $160.
Added WUP is a bonus since Waves adds almost all newly released plugins to Mercury and hopefully it will get me over to V15, which is due now. I have one full year of WUP now, so pretty sure there will be a V15 released in this period.

For me from Horizon and 7 other plugs, that comes to $646 inc that voucher. Though I'd get a ton more plugins, there's no must-have for me there. Also, weirdly it won't let my Clarity VX Pro be added to the products I'd upgrade.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Sat Jul 29, 2023 2:09 pm For anyone interested in Mercury for whatever reasons (included products/upgrade/WUP), if you have the $250 off voucher from Waves, the current deal is probably the best it can get. I've noticed this for a while - there's stepping stones all the way from Silver to Horizon, but then there's a big jump. Platinum to Horizon was a tiny fraction of that cost. I'm not sure I'll ever go to Mercury tbh.

Yeah, I can understand what you mean. Jump to Mercury is indeed very steep. I only upgraded because I have been patiently upgrading my bundles and buying individual plugins for good prices and it's the first time ever Mercury felt like within reach with that $250 off voucher. So, I just went for it. It was not necessary, but there are a few nice plugins that I have access to now and hopefully Waves will add some more good ones from their future releases.noiseboyuk wrote: Sat Jul 29, 2023 3:28 pmFor me from Horizon and 7 other plugs, that comes to $646 inc that voucher. One good thing about not jumping straightaway to Mercury + Studio Classics Collection I realised is that it now gives me an opportunity to get Mercury (+ SCC of course) WUP for less than $100 down the line should I need it (for V16 perhaps!). My SCC WUP is active until early next year, so it wasn't actually even needed right now.

Did not expect a new addition this soon (literally next day). Magma Springs added to Mercury today. Looks interesting and sounds good in demos.
