Roughly 25 years ago, some famous artist put hundreds of giant yellow umbrellas in the mountains in Southern California; check out the link below. It must have cost the artist a fortune, and they were there for a fairly short amount of time (3 weeks). Anyway, I think your song sounds very good. I'm pretty sure I hear pitch correction in some of the vocals too, but I'm guessing it sounds better with it on, yes? The vocals sound good on the recording. Nice song!

That must have been a fantastic event - I didn't know about it!

Aaron,

we're planing a "Yellow Umbrella"-event on the beach indeed.
The result should then be a "Yellow Umbrella" video - if all goes
well - and the orgy doesn't completely mutate. :help:

A bit strange: You seem to hear pitch correction everywhere?
Hmm, the only thing that has been done to the processing here
is that individual syllables have been shortened or lengthened
a bit. But really minimal. You can probably hear that - with your
super-sensitive hearing. :)

Thanks for listening to the song!

Another good song from you Andy, and the mix was lively and engaging. I really liked the lead guitar tone, and it sits nicely in the mix without overpowering other instruments. I didn't need the lyrics pdf for this song - they came through very clearly. The yellow scratchplate on the Ibanez was on-point

Good work :)

Frantz wrote: Wed May 24, 2023 3:35 am The song holds up well to multiple listens. I had to read the website to understand what the yellow umbrella signified. These lyrics are focused on one idea whereas usually your lyrics involve multiple characters and how decisions they make impact their lives over time. This song was a nice change of pace.
Yes - interesting observation. Sometimes it's simple things that are
moving and that keep you busy for a long time. And so also with
"Yellow Umbrella".
Frantz wrote: Wed May 24, 2023 3:35 am The arrangement had interesting variations shifting between acoustic and electric guitars. The electric leads sounded great. The electric rhythm guitar part was a bit basic and could perhaps be more animated. There were some prominently featured bass slides that I think didn't need to be so upfront in the mix.
Ahh, indeed - thanks for the opinion. The heavy guitar in the chorus
is indeed kept simple. It's a compositional decision, but if it's too
noticeable and disrupts the flow, we should revise it.
Frantz wrote: Wed May 24, 2023 3:35 am The overall mix/master was not too loud this time making it a more enjoyable and less fatiguing listen. :phones:

Great work as usual. :tu:
Thanks for your feedback Frantz,
I appreciate your opinion very much!

MRT wrote: Fri May 26, 2023 11:54 pm I would second, I had to go to the website to really grasp the lyric. After reading the site the lyric were easier to follow and made sense, really like the elec guitar parts. Drum sound is solid, mix is good. Nice to hear the acoustic Guitar
So it's put together really well and the more I listen to it, the more I like it. That's a good thing
My opinion: probably would have cut the scrape muted guitar at the turn around, the ending could be more defined.

Yellow Umbrella as a touchstone for romance, couldn't help but think Red Rubber Ball by the Circle :)
Ah yes, thanks MRT! :)

The scrapes of the acoustic guitar have indeed caught the eye
of many.

I really liked the vocals, images and especially, the yellow umbrella.

Vocals remind me of Syd and early Floyd. :tu:
Thank you for your words.

I didn't know about the early Pink Floyd and especially Syd Barrett until
you pointed it out to me. I'm honored by this comparison. Thanks!

Nice track! I really like how the acoustic guitar and vocals are mixed and arranged. The electric guitar is a great contrast in the chorus.

Good track and sound. I didn't understand everything (i mean the vocals and the meaning... my english is too bad :D).
The voice could be in the verse a tiny bit bigger (for my personal taste) - i was thinking about some vocal doubler etc.
But tbh i have no experience in mixing vocals. so maybe everything is fine already.

:tu:
it is better to have a track with some mistakes than a track without any soul
myself in 2022

Thank you, Jeremy!

Yes, the mixing also took a long time to roughly set the correct
volume ratios. But I see that both of you, Jeremy and Tom, are
also quite familiar with mixing. :tu:

Maybe we need to change the vocals in the verse a bit.
Thanks for your suggestion, tomtom1! :D

And by the way, the lyrics are downloadable on the
website as PDF for everyone: click here.

They should be the basis for a "Yellow Umbrella" video. :D :band:
