How does Mall Grab (and other Australian sceneheads) process their drums?

How to do this, that and the other. Share, learn, teach. How did X do that? How can I sound like Y?

I've been stumped on replicating the sound of the fun-embracing techno scene in Australia of Mall Grab, Skin On Skin, jamesjamesjames, X CLUB, etc etc. I can never seem to get the drums sounding right, even though it probably is just heavy distortion and compression?

Would be nice to know if there were some techniques on how to get the drums to sound this heavy but smooth on the ears. I'll link some examples below on what I'm trying to capture at.

Bitcrushing (with filter) is good for these kind of drums. Not just the kicks, but everything else. Add some saturation and distortion and you probably don't need to do a whole lot of compressing either.

I'm currently sat wondering the same thing. I'm inspired to make some tunes but my current drums sound like ass. Did you make any discovers? Anything would help

Possibly parallel processing of the types noted above. Worth experimenting with parallel at least.
