interesting - would be good if one could pass a midi file or live playing through the fx. Is a little bit expensive for me for what it adds to the stuff I have already (exchange rate woes). But for others might be a great addition. Certainly is well thought out

How about "some wizard needs to create a max for live to" VST and "AU MidiFX converter."Raddler1 wrote: Wed Jul 05, 2023 5:50 pm Some wizard needs to create a max for live to AU MidiFX converter.
I wonder why the Max for Live developers ignore the VST and AU midiFX users.

To turn a Max patch into C code is like first learning C, and then redo it from scratch. But now there is the RNBO extension for Max/MSP, and its easier to at least port the DSP part of a patch into a VST, the GUI you would still need to weave into C/Juce.
Another option is to redo a M4L patch in Pd and run it in PlugData, but there you would have to make a completely different GUI as well…
Patching in Max or Pure Data is fundamentally different than coding in lines of code…
Some successful M4L projects seem to have gotten enough support to hire an expensive developer…

I see Instacomposer 2 is out https://www.waproduction.com/plugins/vi ... composer-2 $10 upgrade from 1 (Also on Plugin Boutique). First version generated some buzz here.
Too many DAWs and plug-ins

Ableton will make a ton of money if thy made a Max4anyDAW plugin.
Meanwhile I will ban any mention of those wonderful max4live devices.
Just kidding!

Good find! Just got the email this AM, but thanks to you upgraded last night.BluesMuse wrote: Thu Jul 06, 2023 5:25 pm I see Instacomposer 2 is out https://www.waproduction.com/plugins/vi ... composer-2 $10 upgrade from 1 (Also on Plugin Boutique). First version generated some buzz here.
What most of these tools (captain chords/pilot plugins, etc) call ‘melody’ really is often more like a ‘top line’ figure as opposed to what most would think of a lyrical type melody. The Orb folks take a lot of heat for things, but their Orb composer package can come up with very cool, intertwining melodic (and supporting) lines. I mention intertwining because part of their system bases all the tracks considered melody to work around and with the main melody (I’m oversimplifying!) in some ways and fashions. They moved some of those options into the background in one of the updates to simplify the interface ….
If you take something like Rapid composer (which I like too!) each track you create a new melody on doesn’t take into consideration the ideas that are already present in the project (yes, there are ‘ways’ but it’s not inherent). I know there have been requests to the Dev for something like that.
The Orb producer plugins (which get used more here just because they are plugins and not stand alone like orb composer) has a ‘lyrical melody’ setting. The algorithm is a bit more generic in nature, but there are interesting things in there (if sometimes simpler than one can get from their composer line). It’s not mentioned in the documentation for orb producer but it seems like the orb melody modules take cues off of one another if you have more than one per project. Again, a big benefit and one they should point out in my opinion anyway.

Stepic Sequencer got updated to 1.5:
- MIDI Play: Play Stepic using your MIDI Keyboard and your DAW's note arrangement. Choose from three unique modes: Transpose, Arpeggiator, Chord-Play.
- Pitchbend-Transpose: As part of MIDI Play, this feature lets you transpose Stepic's sequences using your keyboard or controller's pitchbend function.
- MIDI Mapping: Easily manage various Stepic functions like pattern changes using MIDI notes or CC messages.
- MIDI Thru: Route MIDI messages through Stepic directly to your synth. You have the flexibility to determine which message types to pass through, including Aftertouch, Controller Change, Pitchbend, Modwheel, and more.
- Support for FL Studio.

Some really great modes and options in this update - feels like a totally new plugin with much more range of use now.
Cheers,
Tom

Stepic is a masterpiece.
And the Dev is great.
I had an issue with one of the releases and he was really hands on with it and kept at it until the issue was resolved.
This update really pushes it into another realm.
It's such a brilliantly designed plugin. It's the type of plugin where you say "it would be great if...." and then discover you can!
