Yes. I have them together with vst3 in windows and Reaper had no problem seeing/using Clap or Vst.liquidsound wrote: Wed Jul 05, 2023 4:12 pmCan you do that with CLAP as well?napkinthief wrote: Wed Jul 05, 2023 4:06 pm I just finished moving to a new laptop, I just dumped all VSTs (all versions) into a single folder, \common files\vst3. Why people tend to always over ride default settings while installing apps..?
Leave installers do their job as programmers intended to begin with and there will be no problems.

If the installer allows you to do it, then it's okay by the dev. If they don't want you to do it, the install should just go about its business.Atlatnesiti wrote: Thu Jul 06, 2023 2:34 pm Why people tend to always over ride default settings while installing apps..?

Now, if you go and move things about AFTER the install, that's like poking a bear with your finger.
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?

Long ago I created my own file structure for my studio with my own custom 64bit + VST3 locations, and took away the default locations from steinberg. No need for a DAW with such horrible customer service and overall stability to act even symbolically as my DAW's filesystem manager, despite all the years they have existed. They burned their bridges with me, and Im on to other DAWs now after 23 years using Cubase.
I aggressively manage my filesystem to stop various plugins and software from creating their own empty "vst" folders, which is certainly annoying.

Because some people are very experienced systems administrators and have their own file system standards that 3rd party developers do not get to override? This is my PERSONAL COMPUTER, by the way, not a rented marketplace that tells me what to buy, where to put it, and how to run it. Its still a PC, after everything.Atlatnesiti wrote: Thu Jul 06, 2023 2:34 pm Why people tend to always over ride default settings while installing apps..?

I just copy or move everything into a single directory; this way, I don't have to remember (or care!) where it lives or if it's VST2 or VST3 when I'm loading it into a DAW. One directory, one list — why add to the hassle when all you want to do is play?
Wait... loot _then_ burn? D'oh!

All of mine. Because there are so many developers that us the vst3 default its simpler to just use that folder. Some lazy installers haven't even figured out you can choose your own sub directory.Saffran wrote: Wed Jun 28, 2023 7:41 pm How many daws is actually using Steinberg folder as default for their vst's?

Let’s be honest here for the moment…
Does anyone care for Clap anymore? (Honest question)
PS, give it another 6 months and everyone will forget that it ever existed
