And input-monitoring is a global-setting, not per track... :dog:

Gosh - I really do...

By the way: is that the only DAW that doesn't come with a tuner?

And people keep talking about AI in DAWs and what not - yet they still don't even get the basics right... none of them doesn't come with a list of unbelievable brainfucks and shortcomings...

Post

unfortunately, the more you look...the more inattention to detail you will find. it is a race to bullet items on a feature list. it doesn't seem to matter as much whether they actually completely work.

- there's some crucial shortcuts/actions missing, for instance:
- - record-arm selected track(s)
I asked for this on the forum on at least two occasions over the years, and I could never get anyone to understand what I meant. Its such a small workflow thing, but it is inbred into my way of doing things. I think i stopped upgrading at version 9, and still its not there, so I guess it never will be.

Yeah... it's a real shame and a major bummer... the interface got so much better and I guess I was kind of blinded by this, assuming they got their proverbial shit together in the end. :?

I just realized that it also doesn't have real slip-editing - the individual takes are treated as independent files that have no connection to the preceeding and suceeding takes (e.g. both Sonar and Reason have the same significant fault/shortcoming, but I had been assuming Waveform was way better in that regard).

I ended at T4.
I never looked back because there was nothing to look at.
I know it may sound harsh but…

I looked a bit deeper into it yesterday and decided not to bother trying it out. Just looking at the included effects was enough to put me off. They look really basic compared to what I'm used to in Studio One and I use the S1 native effects more than I use 3rd party plugin effects.

Same here.

I tried T1.5 NFR and then waited a bit for 2.0 at Mackie overtake.
- but didn't happend soon enough so got Sonar 4.

Then many years later when back in Jules control I bought T4, $70 or so, and this was a bug fest, and I felt like paying beta tester. Many bugs I found was reported months earlier here at KVR for Tracktion forum that he just ignored.
- so constantly exposing new customers to old bugs

It takes consistency 5-10 man years to build a decent daw. Jules seems to jump on new things before that. He is behind JUCE libraries used by many for cross platform to Mac, so competent developer for sure.

But never throw money that way again.

But almost as worse: it seems it's not possible to access the takes from both recordings together... one has to switch between both recordings.
Waveform aint perfect thats for sure but I don't know of a DAW that is :)

The 'Tape Machine mode' that you desire is a FR that the devs are aware of. I really hope it will be implemented soon. If you have separate recordings they can be comped together, theres a 'Pack clips to takes' option in the properties panel when clips are multiple selected. You cant do this if a clip was recorded in loop mode and is already a comp, has to be flattened first. Not ideal I do admit.

I performed near 50 techno music live gigs outside with just Bitwig running lot of plugins on a macbook with an APC40 plugged on it without any crash.
I will not do the same with waveform (not only because it has no session view) but because of stability issue !

Waveform is a great DAW for making electronic music.

Waveform nowadays is more stable than Studio One Pro for me (generally, odd versions of Tracktion/Waveform have been more stable than even versions). Windows OS.

Their focus, or perhaps financing, seems to have shifted away from the DAW within the last year or two.

I've kept current since v3 (or was it v2?).

While I like Waveform, I find their upgrade page confusing as hell. Half the time when I get an email about a sale I go there and I'm not sure which upgrade to get.

Oh well, at least I have Reaper, and Bitwig.
