Raw hardware oscillator samples

Just stumbeled in here and I´m angry again since some people really think that so many other are stupid. All those developers are just dumb mathematics prooving their own opinion with their own methods.aciddose wrote: Thu Jan 20, 2022 10:39 pmThat's your personally biased interpretation of my intended meaning. I'm not expecting waveforms taken at the circuit level - I'm just seeking waveforms that are as raw as practicably possible. Reasonable minds understand the request for what it is.
They are not at all complicated or unique. There is nothing at all "analog" about them. So I'm telling you that to seek "analog oscillator waveforms" is a nonsense request. You ought to study these very simple factors (I described most of them in high detail) and find a synthesizer with the precise phase control and wave-shaping capabilities you need to create them yourself.
Unfortunately finding a synthesizer like that usually puts you into the domain of modulars with severe limitations on modules. It becomes incredibly difficult to find tools with the capability to reproduce these very simple waveforms. That is one of many reasons software still doesn't stack up against a simple analog synthesizer - the software isn't modeling 90% of the tiny "irrelevant" factors that make up the complete result.
If you do find a particular waveform you feel is very interesting I can offer to help you research how it was actually created. I think though that when you do get into these 100s of very similar waveforms you're stuck in the same sort of preset-flipping or channel-flipping mode, GAS gear acquisition syndrome and so on.
It's easy to get caught up with too much focus on these things when what you really want is a complete sound that satisfies you in your music. Collecting these samples or analyzing them couldn't be any further from creativity.
Sampled waveforms are different. Guess why Omnisphere has so many samples.
I don´t want to dive into a deeper mathematical debate here, but
A) waveforms are no graphs. Graphs result of measurememnts that they intend to visualize - and the higher you set the resulution, the more differences you´ll see (or not if you don´t).
B) Analog oscillatos generate pleasing variations (screenshot; OB-6 sawtooth). No single cycle is like the other.
And now forget about maths and just listen closely. The differences are more than obvious. Nobody has to study informatics just have an analog oscillator ITB

Does anyone happen to have a working link to these? AnX wrote: Wed Jan 19, 2022 7:14 pm I think they are the ones, look familiar

Prophet X VCO PackOneOfManyPauls wrote: Mon Jan 17, 2022 9:36 pm There are plenty of libraries/packs out there with sampled full patches from hardware synths, but I'm looking for a library of just raw oscillator samples from as large a collection of identified hardware synths as possible - ideally across several octaves (doesn't need to be note sampling), preferably .wav format.
single cycle waveforms would be fine.
This is something I've searched for on and off for a long time now, but never found anything satisfactory.
Does anyone know of anything like this?

For what purpose? Which Format? Do you have experiences in programming synth patches with samplers?
One day ... I mean not YET.

The differences are pretty strong. Biut I wouldn´t discuiss that here. Just find it out.HAL76 wrote: Mon Jul 10, 2023 5:28 pmJust stumbeled in here and I´m angry again since some people really think that so many other are stupid. I mean at the end of the day it all also depends on the one who has recorded the material. You can do so much - before as well as after recording.

A project called "Modular Samples" had some online, too. But afaik he deleted most of the samples on github. There werde some "construction kits" with oscillators.OneOfManyPauls wrote: Tue Jul 22, 2025 7:07 pmthanks for thatHAL76 wrote: Tue Jul 22, 2025 6:53 pm

He has also uploaded some stuff at freesound.org, but I don´t know if he has also uploaded the Oscillators.

Weird thing is, the oscillator on these synths could be switched between 3 or 4 shapes. Then why have 50 different samples of it?
And I believe having this much choice is not helping your productivity, it only feeds anxiety of picking the wrong one.
Trust me, no one missed a #1 hit because of choice of oscillator. Or Fender Rhodes vs Wurly ePiano, or telecaster vs les paul, or vox vs marshall.
It's all futile. Make some damn music with whatever you have, and enjoy the process.

Nono. He had some "construction kits" IIRC from e. g. the XPander and 123 others some time ago. Maybe you can find them via archive.org if you search through the snapshots, but theyse are unfortunately incomplete.BertKoor wrote: Tue Jul 22, 2025 8:47 pmI think you meant this repo?HAL76 wrote: Tue Jul 22, 2025 7:27 pm]

Not really the point you were making, which I agree with, but having multiple samples can be nice to throw into a wavetable and randomly iterate over to add more 'analog variance'. Just a thought.BertKoor wrote: Tue Jul 22, 2025 8:47 pm Weird thing is, the oscillator on these synths could be switched between 3 or 4 shapes. Then why have 50 different samples of it?

Yes, PTV listed six of them on page 1 of this thread.HAL76 wrote: Tue Jul 22, 2025 9:01 pm He had some "construction kits" IIRC from e. g. the XPander and 123 others some time ago.
If you list them now, there's even two more.
Here's six: https://github.com/publicsamples?q=kit (of which two 'new')
And two Oberheim XPander kits: https://github.com/publicsamples?q=ck
So I truely dunno what's vanished.

The repository for the XPander only contains sampler files. The Link from the Modular Construction leads to a 404 Error. Alpha Juno is still online. No Sample Download for the Minitaur anymore. [...]

A couple random construction kits I checked had EXS24 patches. I think ConvertWithMoss can get the raw samples from them.

Are you able to open these? I believe all except the Erebus samples require Prophet X to open them.HAL76 wrote: Tue Jul 22, 2025 6:53 pm Prophet X VCO Pack

Click the Audio link on the side. Haven't checked all of them yet (super slow downloads) but the Xpander Session 2 saws definitely work.HAL76 wrote: Wed Jul 23, 2025 8:05 pm The repository for the XPander only contains sampler files.
