For the past few months I have been using a vst called Rob Papens Blue2, I have had this vst for years, but never really used it until my most recent EP, and I've gotta say I love the sound of it. Basically any sound I make with it always sits so nicely on top of my drums and bass.
My question is for anyone who knows or has used this synth, do you know of a hardware synth that has a similar sound/character?
I believe Blue2 is a hybrid fm/subtractive synth, but haven't found any similar hardware on my own yet.
Any help would be appreciated!

Yamaha FS1R.
I owned both at the same time and always thought that they shared a similar vibe, although Blue is much easier to use. The biggest problems with the FS1R are that they've always been hard to come by, the asking prices are usually astronomical, and they're notoriously difficult to program without a software editor due to the limited interface (1U rack mount) and the sheer depth of the synth engines.

Although the Nord Lead 3 features a really easy to use 4 operator FM engine, it's no DX7. But still, I find the combination of the FM synthesis and Virtual Analog engines to be pretty unique in the world of hardware synthesizers.
The great thing about the Nord Lead 3 is that you don't need to know anything about FM synthesis to program killer digital/VA hybrid sounds. Plus, the Nord Lead 3's UI is probably the best hardware synth interface ever designed.
The Nord Lead 3 isn't a super complicated synth with a 20-slot mod matrix and so forth. But because of the way the modulation system works you don't need it. You can route velocity, mod wheel, aftertouch and key tracking to any and all parameters in different amounts. It's clear that a tremendous amount of thought went into every design decision in order to provide you with the widest sonic palette with the most expressive controls using the simplest interface possible.
