Need suggestion on high quality modulation effects Chorus / Flanger / Phaser.
With native Apple M1 support, and no yearly subscription hassle.
Thanks

Honestly most of them are crap. Software modulation sounds bad.. I have real analog chorus gear. Trust me.. the only good one in the form of a software is the one from lexicon but I don’t think it’s would work on your m1

Best sounding software phaser is Softube's Fix Phaser IMO.

Chorus, hmm.... difficult. I sometimes use NI Choral, and sometimes Arturia's JUN-6 Chorus.

I don't use flangers at all.

I agree with alonl6, by the way. Hard to get good sounding modulation effects in software. Took me a long time to get a good sounding phaser, for example. The only ones I use are Fix Phaser and Adam Szabo's Phazor (unfortunately not available for Mac). Arturia's Bi-Tron phaser isn't shabby either.

Start with free. Blue Cat is a good place for those.

Chorus

Cheap: Arturia JUN-6 Chorus (can be had cheap on Knobcloud)
Expensive: Overloud GEM Modula currently on sale.

Interesting to hear an example of a bad chorus and a high quality chorus.
I noticed now I have Chorus from Model 84 and Doubler from Model 82 though Modular FX from Softube.
There is also this Valhalla free Modulation plugin.

Not sure how good these are in comparison to high end ones.

Check D16, bit I’m not sure about their Apple support as I’m not on Mac and pay no attention to it. I use phaser more than any of thw others and like the ones from NI, Softube, D16 & Eventide, in no particular order. Before those existed I wasn’t happy with any in the box modulation effects, I still use hardware too, but I find there’s good in the box alternative’s now.

Which one? Syntorus or the Godfazer?

Multiply by Acon. One of the best and free (and Mac) No phaser or flanger.

I like both & Fazortan as well. Not a bad idea to demo all 3.

Bought Eventide Instant Phaser on sale, has the most grit to it which is what I need.
Other mentions here, Acon Multiply, Softube Fix phaser are excellent as well.

D16 plugins are excellent, though I don't know about Mac support.

The only chorus plugins I've kept over the years, and I've tried a LOT, and I mean a lot, of them, are:
* D16 Syntorus 2
* Overloud Gem Modula
* XILS Chor'X

The only phasers I have installed are
* D16 Antresol
* Eventide Instant Phaser MK2
* Audiority Dr Phase (this is a free plugin and sounds great)

The only flangers I have installed are
* D16 Fazortan 2
* Eventide Instant Flanger MK2
* Audiority Electric Matter

I didn't really like the Softube solutions - compared to the above they're in the next tier down to my ears. Apogee Clearmountain Phases is one I would consider if I didn't already have the others - it's quite good, as well. I sold off Godfazer not long after getting it (didn't demo it) because I didn't need a multifx plugin.

I also have an analog chorus pedal, and a digital delay that can also do some phasing and flanging.

Definitely check the free stuff, it's gotten so much better over the years.

I've used and liked this also: https://www.kvraudio.com/product/lfx-1310-by-sonic-cat
