There should at least be an update to bring iPad only plugins to Mac version.
10.7 has been out since October 2021, so we should see the update in a few months I guess.
My feeling is it will be released right after Sonoma as Logic Pro 11 and Apple Silicon Only.

Yep. That seems very likely.andypryce wrote: Sun Jul 16, 2023 11:28 am There should at least be an update to bring iPad only plugins to Mac version.

I'd say so. Right now the update cadence to 10.7 is giving me Logic Pro 9 before they dropped LPX vibes. They are giving it a good polish before they cut Intel support and go full M based for the next major version of Logic.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Sun Jul 16, 2023 9:26 amLogic Pro 10 was released this day 10 years ago, so I wonder if Logic Pro 11 is imminent.apoclypse wrote: Sun Jul 16, 2023 1:03 amYeah. Funnily those same plugins look like they have an updated UI in the Logic for iPad version. So I'm expecting the next version may hopefully fix that.dupont wrote: Sat Jul 15, 2023 8:30 am Older plugins still have not been updated to adapt to Hi res 5K screen !
Some of them looks blurry if resized.
That being said usually when Apple releases bug fix version like this, it usually points to them releasing a major version soon. So I'd expect the next version of to be a major version (maybe 11).
Logic Pro major upgrades are also free, right? I am still on the demo version, which will last 2 more months, so thought to confirm this.
Major updates aren't free. If Apple releases Logic Pro 11 (or whatever they will call it) it will most likely be a paid upgrade.

Will the upgrade price be less than $199 or we would need to pay the full $199 price for it? Asking based on the history only, as I understand things could change this time. At least it will help me to plan the purchase, because $400 will suddenly become too much of a burden for me. The demo will get me through two more months, so if the next major version is around the corner, I'd wait for it.
However, I also think it may be better to buy Logic Pro X while I can if the next major version is a separate app (another question actually, whether Logic Pro 9 and X could coexist as separate apps) altogether and doesn't appeal me or has bugs or something.

They won't drop Intel support quite yet. There's still quite a number of Intel Mac Pros they were selling until just recently out there. I'd give them a couple of years before they start major anti-Intel shenanigans.
This looks like they went on a bug hunt for the summer, squashing all those that affect the iPad version. I can't imagine why the big push towards iPads on this application where professional not just want, but require huge amounts of screen real estate. My guess it has more to do with pushing their code bases towards to the iOS frameworks so that under the hood, they can do away with all the OS types and just have AppleOS. We've already seen this in Ventura with the Systems Preferences. For better or for worse.

I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?

Apple doesn't do 'upgrade pricing'. At $199, that's still cheaper than just about any first time purchase or upgrade/crossgrade from any other DAW out there.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Mon Jul 17, 2023 5:25 am Yes, makes sense.

Quite frankly no one knows, maybe except Apple. As said LPX just had its tenth birthday (happy birthday LPX!) and honestly apart from Final Cut I dunno any large software package that's had unpaid feature updates for that long (others I'm sure will know of some but I digress). Apple doesn't talk LPX up much and have been pretty sparse with updates but the ones they do release are pretty dang good. They bought Alchemy and put it in as a freebie for crying out loud.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Mon Jul 17, 2023 5:25 am Will the upgrade price be less than $199 or we would need to pay the full $199 price for it?
But, Logic Pro XI could be out tomorrow for a full $249 for all we know. Apple doesn't talk much.

For what? We have no idea if there is going to be a paid upgrade at all. It could keep going for years like it has been... 10.8, 10.9, 10.10 etc.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Mon Jul 17, 2023 5:25 am

When they went from 9 to X, there was no upgrade path. They slashed the price down to around 500€ then LPX was released. Ten years later, 179€ was well spent.

If Apple puts paid upgrade to Logic I would not upgrade and would consider continue using only Ableton Live then move to Windows PC after my Mac runs out its course (and optionally would get lisence for some other multiplatform 'traditional DAW' like Reaper or Studio One).
I'm confident they wont put new upgrade price for it..

Alright guys. I will keep using the Logic Pro X demo and buy it as soon as I can. Let the major version arrive when it is due.

There have been a number of major versions in the past 4-5 years.

If you think Apple is just going to release Logic 11 and give it to all the previous users for free, you're in for a rude awakening. What other company has ever done that and why does Apple have to be the one that does?anra wrote: Tue Jul 18, 2023 11:48 am If Apple puts paid upgrade to Logic I would not upgrade and would consider continue using only Ableton Live then move to Windows PC after my Mac runs out its course (and optionally would get lisence for some other multiplatform 'traditional DAW' like Reaper or Studio One).

Have fun crying some more when Live 12 comes out and guess what, Ableton is going to make you pay for it!
@pdxindy - a 'major version' means that first digit, aka the 10 in Logic 10 moves forward. A 10.x point release, is not a 'major version'.
