Heads up.

I went to tweak my saved preset for AKG K92 headphones in Toneboosters Morphit (v1.9.0) yesterday, only to find that the model had been removed.
Along with the AKG K72 and AKG K52.

The last version to have them included was Morphit v1.8.1 ('Dec 2022 Installer v1.6.8' )
There was absolutely no mention of this in any of the change logs :dog:
Which begs the question, what is the point of having change logs?

I spent a whole afternoon going back through the previous installers to locate the last version with them in.
Toneboosters have confirmed that they have removed them because of 'issues with multiple pairs' in a less than helpful reply to my e-mail

So it may be worth having a check that your model is still included.
I'm now going to demo Sonarworks as an alternative.

Also check DSoniq Realphones, cheaper and very useful; I replaced Morphit with it, never looked back...

Thanks!

Yes, I've downloaded the demo and will give it a try.

You could also have a look at HoRNet VHS. All three of those headphones are on the supported list.

Can't comment on it as my Yamahas are not supported but it's cheap (even cheaper right now) and there's no pesky copy protection to deal with.

AutoEQ is a free database of measurements and EQ curves for all kinds of headphones, including the K92. I just use that + a free EQ on the monitoring chain (lkjb qrange) + airwindows monitoring (for crosstalk).

Free corrective signal chain means more money you can spend upgrading from your K92

Thanks.
I'm not a great fan of HoRnet plugins, but I will give the demo a try.

Thank you very much for this. 8)
I've just grabbed the profile graph and airwindows monitoring. I'm going to spend some time with this as it could be the ideal solution.

Well, Sonarworks said they couldn't do a profile for the K92s (but they have for the K52s) because, quote, "it failed their internal quality test".

However, they recommend that I order an individual profile for the cans, costing €149.00
What a scam. They can get lost.

Perhaps this:

Are both pointing to the K92s having too much a variation between the sound profiles of each model they've tested for a 'correction' profile being of any use

EDIT: Actually this looks more like the reason, the sound profile is .... wild -

Sonarworks do have a profile for the K52 which according to the article are just as bad.

Thanks for this though, I wish I'd seen this review before I bought :o
TBH - I use these for tracking, not mixing. IMO they are an improvement on the Sennheiser HD206s that I had before.

I mainly mix using M-Audio monitors.
I do have a pair of Superlux HD668B semi-closed (which I hate) that I use for occasionally checking my mixes.
I'm looking to replace them with something better.

Thanks for the recommendation. It's very good and I'm going to buy it.
I'm impressed, Morphit and Isone are just playing at it compared to this.

My pleasure.

Further suggestion: wait a bit, it often goes on sale with 30% or more discount :)

That's really good to know, thanks :tu:

TBH, I was going to do that anyway, as I'm looking to get something better than my Superlux HD668B semi-closed before I buy.
Realphones does improve them, but they still sound harsh to my ears. And I find them quite uncomfortable

Realphones makes the AKGs sound great though.

/\ Me waiting for that 30% off on DSoniq Realphones too..

Can Opener into Morphit has been a perfect setup for me.. I just run it on my system output on my Mac using Sound Source.. That way i never have to add / remove it in a session. And everything like Spotify, Youtube, etc get the correction.

I have found with both my headphones (Shure SE215 and Senn HD650's) i use for game audio design (my job) and mixing - mastering, 60-65% correction is about the sweet spot in Morphit.
