P42 is just a waveshaper with a highpass in front of it. Every plugin of theirs i've tried has been underwhelming. Sknote AnyTesla when used subtly is the closest thing ITB i've heard to sounding and behaving like an actual transformer coupled circuit. The model in the Eventide Ultrachannel is nice when used subtly as well, though doesn't handle being driven at all well

Only 485A has transformer modelling the rest are based on solid state components. they are mostly called transformers, because they are meant to be an additional coloured gainstage for his Omega Mic Pre which mostly provides clean gain under normal operation

The sound of Omega TWK comes from modeling the way Tweaker overdrives a pair of “supermatched transistors” feeding a long chain of dirty 70's op-amps, all of which have specs that, by modern standards, would be considered abysmal.

Anyway, it "transforms" the sound much better usually

How you can say that it is just a waveshaper with an highpass?
