On your Spectraphon woes, did the retailer not offer to swap it?

yes, i updated above it's all sorted.
had i gone there first, they would have replaced it without questions as it was still within the legal limit to do so.

i wanted to try and get it fixed for two reasons really, one, was thinking it would be quicker and also, wasn't sure if id done something stupid, that i may do again, and having a fix would be handy.
sadly from what foosnark says above, mine wasn't the only unit to suffer issues, however, it still does seem to be very rare so far

the black telharmonic, pete said in chat they were for the black gold cartesian system.

Sorry, I missed that. I have had good experiences when getting things fixed. Boxes have often been returned with goodies in them

Anyway, glad you will be back on track.

seriously that fm can get nasty!!

Agree. I think the FM is one of the best features. I have a Brenso and wonderful though it is, dialling in ratios and finding sweet spots can be wearing at times. The FM on the Spectraphon takes much of that pain away (whilst still getting nasty!).

tbh, ive found spectraphon as a whole, to be easy to find the sweet spots, and more so, there's so much that counts as sweet spot.
i have nothing else i can compare it with, and i know there are a few things with similar sounds if they work differently, but im very happy with spectraphon to cover those duties.

for now anyway

im sure it won't be long before the module gas kicks in

next up for me though, the soma cosmos! been waiting on a letter to see if my budget would be slashed or not in the future, but was good news!! so im treating myself

Nice. Not sure what the next external device will be. I picked up a BAM in the Signal Sounds sale and I am still in heaven with that. The new Boss DM-101 sure looks tempting though.
