Hey guys,

I have been using Nebula 3 for many years, and have bought a big bunch of 3rd party libraries for it as well. I love the concept of the plugin and the sound of many amazing programs for it, but it has also always been quite unstable on my system. I've kept it up-to-date with latest version, but still it has always given me headaches with lots of crashes and lock-ups.

Now there's version 4 of Nebula and I'm wondering if I should upgrade. My biggest hope would be that N4 is more stable than N3. But if N4 is also more CPU-effective and perhaps can even do some types of effects better that N3, well that would be a big bonus obviously.

I'm curios to hear from you N4 users out there, what are your opinions? Worth the upgrade from N3?

I have it and use it a lot. I have a 12-core mac. N4 is a CPU hog! There are some problems with it in terms of consuming CPU. I have never owned any other AA plugins. I aquired a giant library for it as well. Despite all the problems I struggle through them for the sound. However, I will not buy ANY other AA plugins because from what I gather they are pigs to use too. I don't like AA as a company. So N4, ok but the issues limit my use of it. I use it with Logic. Its stable I guess in that it works and doesn't cause crashing etc.

Thanks a lot for the input! Well, this doesn't make me super eager to upgrade (my system is a lot weaker than yours). Good to hear it doesn't crash your system though like N3 does mine. There's a free N4 to download. I should maybe try that. Not sure how relevant that will be, but maybe it gives an indication at least how the full version will behave on my system.

Does anyone know how large the plugin and factory libraries are?
thanks

The sound is great, but otherwise I've had nothing but problems. Crashes, authorization issues, installation issues, just getting the files on your damn computer from the damn website... For a company as seemingly large and popular as Acustica, I wonder how they can keep it up.

Probably the only company where I wish they would just go Pace & iLok for authorization.

Got to agree 100% with all that's been said. Sounds incredible. PITA to use. CPU Hawg. Company MEH!! If it didn't sound so freakin' good I wouldn't touch it with a 10ft pole. But there you go.

Is Nebula 4.5 any less of a CPU hog or less apt to cause latency?

Is it worth it??? For me absolutely. The libraries that come with are excellent, and much more to be had from 3rd parties. CPU usage was bad but if you have a newer one, it's not really bad at all anymore.

They priced it out ridiculously probably to discourage 3rd party guys so they could make lots of Aquas themselves. Too bad because TimP, Alexb et al... have fantastic libraries.

The reverbs alone are worth it IMO. Nothing algorithmic comes even close.
