Living in a semi-tropical forest, that is covered in emerald green and houses species of animals, insects and flora millions of years old, its hard not to tap in and be inspired.
Trying to learn to turn of the brain, news, and media and let the environment creep in, just enough to speak a word, then a note, then a song.

Going to plumb in a Pulse 12-Way XLR Multicore Stage Box 10m, I thought it might be more practical and cheaper than getting a XLR patchbay. I'll use some P-clips to secure the cable under the desk and take the strain off the cables going into mic pres, headphones, etc .

I can’t wait to run my daughter’s vocals through this unit.

It's all about waking up on a Saturday morning and playing with your drum machine in bed. LXR-02 is nicely small for that, but it is glitchy- sometimes it doesn't load the kit with the project. Using the LFO on parameters like pan or filter frequency is a must. Wish it had 2 LFO's actually.

I don’t have a drum machine by the bed, but I can happily lose an hour playing something like Patterning 2 or Drum Computer on an iPad before getting up.Constructed Identity wrote: Sun Jul 23, 2023 2:23 am It's all about waking up on a Saturday morning and playing with your drum machine in bed. After hearing this
I would like one, but all these Behringers in the same form factor should have their own stand-
I can envision end pieces like Moog has for the sound studio. I know these are made for eurorack, but I can see getting three real quick (WASP, TORO, CAT)

Got the Intellijel Shifty module today so just been playing with it. It's fun, adds a kind of arpeggiated yet held chord sound to stuff in one mode. Run fast enough it gives things a glitchy feel which I rather like.
The Behringer Edge (not the U2 guitarist) is arriving tomorrow so inevitably it'll be when I'm in the middle of doing remote 1-2-1s with my team of developers. I wish I had more house room so I could double my desk space. Might even have been able to move somewhere a bit bigger if everything hadn't gotten so stupidly expensive. Kind of glad I hadn't moved though because if the rent went up on a more expensive place it'd be me selling off my rack for bread and soup money.
Edit: selling off my rack for bread and soup money snuck by without a quote out of context. This place is going uphill, don’t like it.

Edge arrived early happily so just trying it over lunchtime. It’s a limited set of things, but a lot of scope for different sounds once the patchbay and external audio comes into the equation. I don’t know if there’s MIDI cc mod targets available, but I hope so.
Must admit it took a few minutes to work out how to get a sound out of it!

After work instead of firing up a game, I recorded a thing I was reasonably happy with.
And then saw a thread over on MW about using a delay for phase shifting to make neat Lissajous patterns on a scope, tried it with Mimeophon using a sine from Shapeshifter... then got to messing with phase modulation using the secondary oscillator, which was itself modulated/modulating the first one... then fed that to Spectraphon.
Next thing you know I recorded a second thing that I was even more happy with.

Tried the 3rd party Praetereo Versio firmware (sort of a random looper). Decided it's not that much to my liking, took the opportunity to switch that Versio to Ruina. (That one had been on Melotus since it came out, and then on Yester since that one came out...)
Started playing with it and immediately realized it's got different flavors than the Ruina plugin. Wound up recording a bleak dark ambient thing with Rings -> Ruina -> jroo loop, splitting that between UFX Reverb for the first voice and Spectraphon for the second

Recorded something super doomy with the bass guitar, Velvet Machine, Ruina and UFX Reverb, with inharmonic FM pads from Synclavier V and some cello samples that melted right into the mix like chocolate.
Then I recorded a drum-ish loop I'll use for something else. Wonky rhythm from Function clocking Clep Diaz which modulated Function's speed. Hi-hat-ish noise from Interstellar Radio through Katowice, then Beads for granular stuttering and Minimal Audio Rift for crunchiness. Kick from Rings through Spectraphon.
Maybe I will have time to finish this album for this upcoming Bandcamp Friday, but I'm not gonna rush it.

Did a cover of a mellow John Martyn song. Have had the Arturia FX collection a while, but was the first time I tried its take on the Mu-Tron Bi-Phase on guitar and it’s a great sound.

Getting ready for another live performance on Labor Day. Hopefully we get a good turn out.
I can't decide if I want to recycle ideas from my previous sets or do something new.
