Fast but musical compressor?

I'm tired of searching a fast but musical compressor.
Not an emulation, but purely digital with fast attack and release times,
and few curve modes.
Found two that sound right, but both of them are buggy.
Any suggestions?

FirComp2; insanely fast attack, as cleanly as possible. Lookahead is a powerful option for this kind of thing, too. The paid version 2 includes the VCA mode with variable feedback, which I find helps get it closer into territory of popular "musical" compressors. (1176, SSL Bus Compressor, LA-2A all have feedback-based topology).

Quite fast in SNAP and CRUSH setting on EASY Page. Perfect for low CPU mixing duties.
Very flexible, low price, a lot of compressor for very little. Takes care of all routine mixing comp jobs in a work horse like manner.

IMO you can't have fast attack AND fast release AND musical. You have to pick two.

"Fast" is self-evident. Define "musical" in the context of a compressor. If you mean low distortion, use a compressor with lookahead.

Like ProC2 (as one example).MrBeagleton wrote: Tue Jul 25, 2023 6:55 pm "Fast" is self-evident. Define "musical" in the context of a compressor. If you mean low distortion, use a compressor with lookahead.

Still not good enough, imo. Can anyone define "musical" in a more concrete way.
Calling a compressor musical is like calling an oven tasty.

This probably boils down to a smart detection algorithm.MrBeagleton wrote: Tue Jul 25, 2023 6:55 pm "Fast" is self-evident. Define "musical" in the context of a compressor. If you mean low distortion, use a compressor with lookahead.

I use waves V1, NI supercharger, and audio damage RR for the majority of my compression needs. I have many others and I use them too , but one of those 3 is generally close to what I need for any given sound. All can do very fast (wave shaping speed) compression. They also have a range from super flexible to clinical to over colored.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

If you want stupid fast then Clipping may be the answer as it doesn't give the unlovable waveshaping or flattening feel of overfast compression/limiting.
Have you tried AdHd Limiting Tool as that is very good for Compression, esp for the price?
If you want brutal then the Molot model is very cool for its ability to give that punch on the front. I use the Red Rock C1-L1 Rack Extension take but the TDR version is ok too once you know how to ride it.
I note you didn't explain what you hoped to achieve, what you have tried, and even let us hear what is happening - or not. That is where real help is better able to be given that board, I like this (as I did above).
