They aren't for the most part samples.. they are ACB
modeled..

Backed by our Analog Circuit Behavior (ACB) technology, these iconic instruments are brought to life with breathtaking realism in your DAW—and all for one low price.
Analog Circuit Behavior (ACB).

Thanks to our proprietary circuit modeling technology, these classics are ready to imbue your tracks with retro energy and fuel tomorrow’s masterpieces. The ACB process involves carefully analyzing original hardware units, circuit diagrams, and other historical data. We then use this information to recreate the authentic circuit behaviors of the vintage instruments—including all their beloved quirks and instabilities—giving these rhythm machines their amazingly lifelike sound and organic response.

I seem to recall that on the original 909 the crash, ride and hihats were samples.

Which were?... To be fair, they changed the behavior of the installers, which now let you choose the VST folder location (previously, they didn't, and that caused me several troubles). But that's pretty much THE ONLY TIME they listened. I was subscribed for more than fiver years, have the ten "for life" instruments, and I then cancelled my subscription after they confirmed I reached the top and will not have any other free license.

Anyway, the long promised instrument (JX-8P/JX-10) is yet to be released (if it ever will, which I doubt) and no signs of V-Synth either. These are the only too I would like to see. Have no interest in Zenology, Zenology modules or sound packs.
The problem i see with their new policy now is that if they release something new you have to buy a lifetime license for it since they removed the option to change your lifetime keys.

So The lifetime Keys you have now is what your are stuck with and the only option forward is to buy lifetime Keys.

My queries were related to using the RD-88 with Zenology Pro and I received instant support that solved my problems.

The TR-707 kits are all samples, but the ACB modelling also models the analog stuff in the sound production workflow like filters, envelopes etc so it’s not something you could replicate 100% with just one bunch of samples in a sampler though possibly close enough for your liking.

victoria wrote: Fri Jul 21, 2023 3:00 pm It didn't go well. I explained the situation in as nice manner as possible and asked if there was any possibility for them to reset my keys so I could make a new choice. Here's the reply from Roland Cloud Support:

Thanks for contacting us!
Sorry, once the membership which earned the reward ends, the choices are final.
Disappointing. The statement is also factually untrue. This may indeed be policy, but the reality is their own system allowed changing keys. This support by them, whether intended or not, whether "officially supported" or not, was directly responsible for creating the widespread (at least on some forums) impression users could change their keys, at any time, provided an active subscription were maintained.

The fact that THEIR actions, in terms of how they implemented their own system, are what created this impression, puts at least some moral responsibility on them to put things right for users who feel they were negatively impacted - even if they don't have to do so legally.

If users were given reasonable notice, that the change was about to be made, they could have made informed decisions regarding their keys, and the situation would have been entirely avoided.

The real issue here isn't Roland's policy (even if most of us feel it's a change for the worse) but rather the way in which it was implemented - which has obviously left some users feeling like they had the rug pulled from under them by Roland. I see Jon's asked you to PM him, so I hope you can still get a positive outcome.
Wasn't just an impression though - the lifetime keys in your account has trash icons next to it, showing that you can remove them and pick new ones. Not only did they not warn customers that they were going to be removing that ability they stopped it from working without even removing the buttons that let you do that before! I think they didn't even tell their own devs!

Just wondering, I read someone earlier on this thread saying that using keys up on the SRX boards was a waste.(I'm not sure but I think it was Victoria who said this).

Does anyone else agree? For me, they seem really good value - tons of high quality samples of real instruments, almost like complete sound modules in themselves.

The lifetime key for an SRX title cost just $69, compared to something like the Jupiter-8 that cost $199. Obviously you don't want to use your free lifetime key on the least expensive thing in the candy store.

why does a company switch to unfirendly userservices at all if the users are the highest priority?

not saying that roland does it, just saying "some companies" do it :hihi:
Well thankfully for y'all I'm not afraid of uncomfortable questions! :D

Hi Jon,

A few pages back many of us asked several questions about the Loyalty Keys suddenly being set permanent to an instrument, without any prior notice. Many of your most loyal users are now stuck with instruments we didn't understand would be forever, someone had even wasted two lifetime keys on SRX expansions because of this.

If you somehow missed all this: We kindly request that we are given a chance to carefully select which instruments we really want, would that be possible? A simple way would be to revert to the old behavior for a limited time. Yes? No?
I apologize if you feel like I ignored this. Since the public forum might be a little too complicated to have a back and forth about it, I'll reach out to you through PM. The easiest way for me to assist y'all with specific issues is if you send me a private message. It's not only easier for communication, it helps me keep track of your experiences for future reference. Another great way is to reach out to us through our customer support portal. You will always be able to explain your situation and get helpful and honest responses from us. As always I'm happy to tell you what I know! The only time I'm not able to share information is when it has to do with up coming releases.

Nothing new was announced, no user concerns were addressed...
... and what was the point of this "Roundtable" again?
I spend all day on forums and user groups hearing your concerns, what y'all love, and what you wish to see from Roland Cloud, and then I report these things to other parts of the team for updates and improvements. Many of the updates you see are a result of this effort. We recently expanded the compatibility of a huge batch of instruments and applied some other highly requested changes to the GUI and their performance. There are many more updates to our other instruments that are on the way. If you still see an issue, please let us know. When I say we love feedback I mean it. We actually use it.

As I stated previously, the roundtable gives those members of the team, the ones who design and improve these wonderful plugins, a chance for direct contact with y'all!

I'm really excited about the future of Roland Cloud. We have many plans to push forward, we are not stopping here, and as we expand our user base and as technology and operating systems change, sometimes we might need to take time to do some maintence so that things are running smoothly for everyone.

We really do have many exciting things in the works and trust me when I say they can't come out soon enough!
@Jon:

I do appreciate your transparency and look forward to what you all have in store. Thanks for keeping a presence here. And of course...

I have the World SRX as lifetime key. The Asia JV80 card was my fav on the JV1080 I had.
I am member since the beginning (2017) and have the maximum keys. 20+, I have the loyalty and P4L max bonuses. I saw none were added when renewing my ultimate again. So I guess this will be the last year I am subbed. Got all I want (and even more) Wished I could trade a few keys for a Zenology Pro key (like 2 or so, would be around same value)Will just get a lifetime key for Zenology Pro and that will be profitable in 1 year to subbing.

Any idea why I get this when removing loyalty licences?

Roland have pulled the rug out and stopped allowing people to swap the plugins they own for other ones. It would have been ok IMO if they’d given us some notice, but they just did it via an RC update.

"Subject to change without notice".
Always at their whim and historically, "lifetime" is defined as "untill when we decide to kill it".
