Sorry if this has been posted already. I didn't know about the half off sale, but when I got a heads up about it from a post, I picked up Modwave native for $99.99
Loving it. :tu:
The others are on sale too, including the ones for the keyboard owners.

Thanks. I keep watching for these sales, trying to figure out the cheapest way to buy the collection4. (I own an Opsix and I have that coupon for the Opsix native)

If anyone has done this and has advice, I'd welcome it.

The Collection is on sale too, but someone else would have to say how good of a deal it is - I don't know:

Upgraded to 4 for 49 dollars (40 quid). Not bad for three new instruments.

That's a hella-deal. I paid $99 (US) last December to upgrade from collection 3 to 4. That.. was a great deal then. Getting it for 50% less = terrific deal. The Native updates are less in this sale too. $99 is a great price. I have all three.. and they're flippin' next level.

I think Korg have been on fire the past few years - really got their mojo back again. The 3 recent native synths are superb. I don't really like wavetable sound so didn't get Modwave but it's up there with the best in that category. Wavestate is out there on its own - nothing else like it. Opsix I can't say best, but it's definitely unique for FM and very powerful. I got Wavestate & Opsix native having already bought both in hw...initially thought I'd wasted my money, but recently have really got into programming Wavestste Native - def easier than hw. Opsix not so much but I still use both. Can't recommend them enough. $99 is a good price imo.

I have the old collection, but not the recent full set. I kinda want to, but don't really want or need things like Triton, Prophecy etc. Tempting though. Korg seem to do a lot of sales recently and well worth considering. When I was looking around for a mixer I noticed Korg even sell mixers now...nearly got one, but Behringer won out in the end.

OpSix UI is so good for visually seeing how FM synthesis works and the affect that adjustments have on your sound/waveform. Really well done IMO and sounds good too unlike a lot of FM softsynths.

Spent a little time with Modwave native and I've got to say it's pretty impressive. Money well spent.
Glad I read about how to save patches because I came up with a couple happy accidents, and can pull them back up again.

I'm overloaded with softsynths because I was buying collections, and ended up not using a lot of the stuff.
But I think from now on, I'll just buy the individual ones that I know have the features I want, like the Modwave.

I bought the hardware for Wavestate, and the software, but it does feel a bit of a waste now it's going for so cheap. However can't complain about the upgrade to Collection 4, even though I don't need those instruments, they seem a lot of fun, and will provide some inspiration.

Now I'm more interested in Collection 5. Will a Korg ARP 2600 be in the works perhaps?

My first synth was a korg monopoly in the early 80 ies. By 1986 it was obvious for me, that the computer would take over in producing music. I have bought the korg stuff again in software now.

But what thrills me most: Music does not get better by technology itself. It is the craft of the artist that makes the difference.

Is the Korg M1 still worth it for $49?

If you love the original hardware, $49 will get you the M1/M1EX experience, plus all the expansion cards, PLUS the expansions from the T Series AND it can import sysex.

So I dare to say it's a definite YES :)

(and also, it's a textbook example of "doing it right", I'm looking at you, Roland...)

I don't really have any experience with the hardware. My thought was that it will provide me with basic bread & butter sounds for music production out of the box, without sound designing, like I usually do with synths like Serum, Massive etc. So I could basically focus on writing music, instead of designing sounds. Basically like picking up a Guitar and playing it. Sitting in front of a piano and playing it. Loading Korg M1 on my DAW and writing/composing music.

Then I suggest looking up one of the gazillion "famous sounds" demos. As far as "bread and butter" goes, there's a lot of it (actually much more, if you take the expansions into consideration), IF you're looking for those specific late 80s rompler sounds - otherwise by today's standards it might be kind of limited and/or dated (then again, often in a "so bad it's still good" kind of way).

Anyway, here's an example of what to expect from the M1 sound-wise:

(possibly my favorite demo channel, make sure to turn the subtitles on)
